Post by Apoptosis »

THQ Inc. today released a patch adding Microsoft DirectX 10 (DX10) support to Company of Heroes, the real-time strategy (RTS) title from internal studio Relic Entertainment.
Company of Heroes is the first commercially available DirectX 10 Windows PC game. The DirectX 10 patch adds numerous enhancements to the title's critically acclaimed game-play, including significant improvements to model and map details, lighting, shadows, and overall image quality.

"As one of the first Games for Windows branded titles, Company of Heroes took the RTS genre to an entirely new level," said Kevin Unangst, Global Director of Games for Windows at Microsoft. "By delivering full support of DirectX 10, THQ and Relic Entertainment continue their tradition of innovation and leadership in PC gaming."

"Company of Heroes features the most incredible visuals and game-play available on the PC," said Bob Aniello, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, THQ. "With the integration of DirectX 10, we've set the bar even higher as the first to take advantage of this great leap forward in gaming technology."

About the Company of Heroes DirectX 10 Patch

The DirectX 10 patch is available for systems running Microsoft Windows Vista with a DX10 compatible graphics card, and takes advantage of the many new features available on DX10 compatible hardware, such as geometry instancing, improved per-pixel lighting and shadow calculations, advanced alpha blending, and new anti-aliasing techniques.

sounds awesome, but I dont see it adding much to the graphics. It already has great graphics as long as you have a good setup
