Can anyone help me out here? I'm still stuck w/ this crappy pistol b/c it's the ONLY ammo you can find even a decent amount of. I see plenty of people shooting me with rifles and SMGs, but they rarely have any ammo at all. Pretty gay if you ask me, they can shoot you all day long and never run out of ammo, but when you kill them w/o them even getting a shot off on you, they have like a total of about 6-18 shots, that's if they have anything. I can't buy SMG ammo from the trader in the rookie camp either.
I've put a few hours into this game already and have advanced a little bit on the story, but it just doesn't seem right for me to still be using my pistol (not to mention it's hard as balls to do anything as far as the main mission goes w/ just a pistol). I believe i should be at the point to comfortably "use" an SMG w/o having to worry about ammo. Any ideas?

The SMGs and Rifles are harder to find ammo for because they are more powerful. If you want to be able to buy the stuff, you need to collect items to sell to the trader... Basically, throughout the game, you want to use whatever weapon you can find ammo for.
Trust me, once you get out of that first map and into the second you will be finding ammo for more powerful guns, and wont have to go back to your pistol much. If you can manage to get an smg or ar, save the ammo the best you can while using it... turn off full auto and use single shot.
