BF2142 Sound Problems

Post by smack323 »

I have a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card.. when i play the game everything sounds sweet untill the artillery or EMP strikes start - then i hear a horrible crackling sound and sometimes it causes my computer to restart. it only seems to do this in multiplayer as i was testing in single player mode an thought i fixed it only until i went to an online server and had the same problems. anyone else have the same problems? were you able to fix it?
i have tried all sorts of audio config settings - the only setting that works is software. and with that the crappy sound.
I also made sure to update the drivers.

Could it be that the audio file for artilery is corrupt? if it resets your computer maybe that certain sound is causing an error.

Crackling could also be speakers unable to play that certain bass frequency, but that cant be the issue if it resets your computer.

so i did some more digging- on the creative web site forums this seems to be a huge problem.. something to do with the nvidia4 chipset on motherboards.. unfortunitally the last post i could find was from August of 2006 - i would hope that in a year they would have come up with a fix for this problem but i can find a thing. the nvidia forums are worthless because you cant run a search for a topic.. anyone out there know of a "fix" for this incompatability issue?

If it doesn't hurt, couldn't you try reinstalling BF?

That is what i would suggest. Also what mode are you playing in? Games or entertainment? if you are in games, try entertainment.

I would also recommend reinstalling BF2142. I have never run into that problem myself however though =(

i have tried all the suggestion.. nothing seems to work- it seem that the X-fi in BF2142 is not compatible with the nvidia chipset.. - oh well back to the software sound ](*,)
