A Shacknews article reported today that Valve is adding unlockable content, 2 new maps and a new gameplay mode to Team Fortress 2. One ability is described as the "Overhealer" ability which doubles the healing capacity of the medic! Also included is a remake of the Team Fortress Classic map "Badlands" as well as a new map titled "Gold Rush" which includes the new yet to be named gameplay mode in which one team escorts a mining cart across the map. All of this is expected within a month but knowing Valve someone will probably steal the source code for the update and Valve will push it back a year.
Further more on a more exclusive note I was working on a TF2 map this past weekend and noticed a new gameplay map entity having to do with grenades so perhaps those are coming back to Team Fortress as well! I also noticed that there were character texture maps I haven't seen before such as ones that featured glowing eyes!
Ill post a screen grab when I get home tonight.

Most of the changes sound promising! I'm really looking forward to Goldrush, sounds like a lot of fun! Hopefully it doesn't screw up the balance of the game. The new medi-gun sounds awesome. Can't wait till it comes out!

Re: Massive Update Coming to Team Fortress 2
I doubt the balance will be any different than it is now. If anything, they'll fix it up in a day or two as if nothing happened. Which is why I love TF2. Whenever there is a bug/issue, an update is only a day away. If only other games were like that (Unreal Tourney 3, cough cough.)tbdsniper wrote:Most of the changes sound promising! Re: Massive Update Coming to Team Fortress 2
I think its finally time for me to get the Orange Box. Can't ignore Team Fortress any longer.
Re: Massive Update Coming to Team Fortress 2
It is totally worth it. I would pay $50 for just portal and HL ep 2
