OMG -- This is a gamers dream come true... 4ms response times on a 19" LCD monitor! Viewsonic has done it in both 17" and 19" monitors with their new Xtreme line. But, wait there is a catch!! They don't ship till May and you might have to sell off a mission critical body part to cover the cost of one of these bad boys. At $505 they are not going to be the cheapest 19" LCD you can find!
With ultra-fast 4ms average video response across the entire color scale, the ViewSonic 19-inch VX924 and 17-inch VX724 deliver fluid, full-motion images and optimized video performance for a variety of applications.
With the typical “Fast-Response” displays on the market today having an average gray-to-gray response time of 30-35ms, these new additions to ViewSonic’s fast-response LCD lineup provide intermediate level response time performance up to 8 times faster. They are ideal for extreme gaming, viewing DVDs, watching television, and even for the more traditional computer usage - such as rapidly scrolling within a Web site or document.

yah these panels look like they're going to be pretty sweet!!!
Any chance you guys might get one in to review before they are released in May?
I'd love to see how this panel stacks up against the reigning champ the Hyundai L90D+.
I also hope that all motion blur, etc. will be virtually non existent since were now down to 4ms

wooo!!
I've already seen a few sites list its price as low as $419 so it won't be too much more than the L90D+ which is at $369.99 almost everywhere on the net.

holy balls! my new goal is to get that monitor.... i'm kinda tired of this damn samsung crt that i have to degauss everytime i move it. not to mention, it's not as light and easy to transport as an flat panel.

im still looking at the dell 24" lcd, i dont think i could go back to anything smaller than that since i switched, besides anything under 16ms is decent enough for my gaming needs. i dont think the diff between 4ms and 16ms justifies the price vs. size for me.

i've seen some games played on a 16ms screen and it still wasn't as good as crt

I have the Dell 2005 and there's no way I could go back to a smaller monitor now, not to mention this is the brightest monitor i have ever seen. I wanted the 24 in but they wanted too much at the time. I'll sell this one and get the 24 when i save up some money....after the vapochill.

What review are you talking about? I'd love to read it

If this panel does indeed run as fast as they claim it does it may actually work for gaming. I'm hoping for no motion blur!

Are you guys aware that the vx924 is only 6-bit color? Or 6+2 as the lady at Viewsonic told me. I was very excited about this monitor until I heard that.
I seem to remember the HardwareZone article mentioning dithering, too, though I may have read that somewhere else.
Now, I'm not writing this off yet, as I've already come to grips with going from 32 bit to 16 (though I'm not sure why that doesn't seem to make a difference going from CRTs to LCDs), but that does seem like it'll effect performance.
