You should play the original half life first if you really want to know the story :P

But other wise play HL2 first.

it goes Half Life 1, Half life 2, HL2 Ep1, HL2 Ep2 and the in dev HL2 Ep 3.

If you play through Half Life 1 first it will make Half life 2 a much better experience.

Black mesa source.

They're still working on it.

I keep checking their site occasionally, I really hope they finish soon though :P

Half Life OWNED all. Beyond that, the franchise is just lame money sucking add ons. Half Life 1.5 (known as HL2 to most) was one of the most disappointing wastes of $60 ever (thanks Steam). Launch day problems with activation, poor story line (I won't give it away, since you haven't played it), and all added up for a very sad experience for me. Of course, I felt the same way about Halo 1.5 as well.

Now that I have a dedicated gaming rig, and baseball season is nearly over for my boys, I fully intend to once again live the greatness that was Half Life.

I agree. I thought HL2 was more to show off the Source engine than anything. Really was a let down.

I have not. I guess I sort of gave up on Vavle after HL2 and the cartoony TF2 :toimonster:

I'll read up on it though and see.

I've played everything Half Life ever. Plan to go back and play the originals again in the next month or so... however, I can't imagine this will change my opinion of HL2.

As for TF2, it was just a (fairly well) redo of the original Team Fortress Classic which was one of the funnest MP games I've ever played. I never really gave TF2 a long term workout, but for the few times I played it, I really enjoyed it. I guess with the huge update coming this week, I'll give it another shot.
