I have played WoW on a friends CD but kinda wanted to get my own account but do not want to pay that damn monthly fee to play my game I already payed for!
So I checked out Guild Wars as it looks very similar. Is it similar? Do you like it better/worse? Is there a monthly fee to play? How are the graphics?

Similar, I'd say in some ways yes, but in many ways no.
A lot of the grind and tedium found in most MMORPGs is removed, so the game is much shorter, but probably more enjoyable (IMO). This also leads to the PvP issue, and ArenaNet's statement about focus on strategy and skill rather than how much time you spent leveling up and how much money you spent on equipment.
Everyone's in one world, no split servers. And of course, pay once, play forever. Wouldn't expect less from the original WC, SC, and Diablo guys.
And there's even the free expansion pack, not even Brood Wars was free, talk about value!
From earlier talks it sounded like they're planning on offering expansion packs yearly or something, so maybe this first one is just "on the house" to build up its userbase. Even if they don't though, I like the fact you get the option to pay only when there's new content instead of having to pay every month.
BitTech did a good review of the graphics here:

I don't actually have the game, but I do plan on picking it up eventually once I have more free time.
