I'm annoyed that I got back from the party and all the shops have closed, so I can't get hold of any DS games :(

Early tommorow it is then!

Im sure those of you that are interested in the DS Lite will have already seen all the [s]angles[/s] curves the DS Lite has, but hopefully here's a few comparisions that you haven't seen!

Image Image Image Image

Here's the standard SP conparison shots that everyone has to take, if I'd had a normal DS I'd have taken photos against that, but I dont have one because they looked so naff. :-P

The screen is not only brighter** the colours are much more vivid and sharp, this is supposed to be true for the DS vs DS Lite comparison too.

(**These photos were taken with the brightness turned to level 2 of 4, level 4 is dazzling!)

Image Image Image Image

So this thing is tiny (well not that tiny) but I expected the box to be alot bigger that it was. I never thought that it would be smaller than my old GBA, and thinner too!

Image Image Image

Oh yes, these are **EXCLUSIVE** photos comparing the gaming Icon that was with the DS Lite. Just looking at my old GB brings back a nostalgic warm feeling inside. :)

So now that I've had a chance to look at it properly theres just one thing I have to say:

Image

What is this for?!?!? I know its a dust cap, but its got GBA connection plates on it, yet doesnt seem to change anything when not inserted and the DS is turned on. Maybe it'll do something when I put in a proper DS game.

Theres just one slight problem though with an import...

Image

No matter how hard I try, that isn't gonna fit!!
So I need to find a 220v-110v stepdown transformer before the slight charge that is already in my DS runs out!

I'm tempted to try charging it from the shaver point in my bathroom that has a 115v plug that fits it... I know its wattage is less than the shaver points max, but im worried something might happen to it.

Any UK peeps know if there is some reason why I shouldn't do this? lol.

If anyone wants me too, I'll mini review a game when I get one tommorow, else not if everyone thinks this sucks :P

Dan

PS. Can I have a place on the LR review team now? Especially as I bagged those exclusive shots with a GB :P

Dan have you stopped folding??

Ok then, back later by popular demand, a review of metroid prime: hunters.

 Yeah I kinda havent folded in a while. Reason being that my laptop is prone to overheating while folding** and my desktop died a while back, when i got it fixed, i never reinstalled F@H.

When I move out in september I'll get me a system that I can leave on 24/7 and fold :P

I do feel kinda bad 'letting the team down', especially as tho we slipped down a few days back, even if it was only temporarily.

Dan

**Well from what i can figure it must be melting the RAM because whenever it has been on for a full day at 100% F@H it usually crashes, despite passing every stability test i can throw at it, not good for me or F@H :P

DMB, you would ideally need a 110v adaptor... i wouldnt risk it to be honest... nice review! :)

Yeah, in the end i didn't risk it. I went and got me one of those 230-110v stepdown transformers with a handy american plug into it. :P

I was gonna say that I've seen places that sell kits of conversion plugs for people who travel internationally alot but you already got your step-down plug.

Personally I don't care for the DS's. I've only tinkered around with one but the PSP does so much more and despite being bigger is actually really fun to play with and I like the expandable memory, MP3 player, video stuff, and the resolution on that screen is amazing.

I've owned every GameBoy up to the DS though and still have them all around the house somewhere. I've even got the clear-cased B&W screen GameBoy pocket.

Yeah, i know what you mean...

The DS does seem to be more gimmiky than actual console... Until you start to look at the games. OK, its down to personal preference, but I prefer the DS's games over the PSP's, I think that the gaming scene needs a refresh from just sequels and prequels and for me thats what the DS is. :)

I'll admit the PSP looks dead sexy, better than the DS Lite, but as for video's and other functionality I have a palmtop/ipod for that :P
