Community Update - 4/25/06
Attention Soldiers!
Although the 1.3 patch is still being worked on we wanted to provide a peek at what you can expect with the coming release:
NEW FEATURES
* Co-op: Co-op Mode allows you to play Single Player levels on the Internet and LAN with both AI controlled bots and human players. Several new options have been created that will allow the server creator to modify how the bots behave in game.
* Air dropped vehicles: Squad members can now send a request up the chain of command for a vehicle to be dropped at their location.
BUG FIXES & GAME PLAY TWEAKS
* Prevented ban list from being cleared in the event of a server crash.
* Fixed issue with players not properly ranking up on servers where they continuously play.
* Fixed bug where friendly vehicles show up as valid targets.
* Friendly Vehicle lock: Lock-on weapons do not lock on to friendly vehicles. The box with an X through it will still appear, but a lock tone will not sound and then if fired, the missile will not track the friendly target.
Keep in mind this is only a part of what 1.3 will include. Our live team is working diligently to provide the best update possible in preparation for the release of the Armored Fury booster pack!
This is taken from EA's website. sounds cool. excited about the air drop vehicle thing. I hope they include widescreen resolutions in there game options...

I'm already liking the sound of air-dropped vehicles. It'll be awesome for squad leaders but hell for commanders having to constantly deny them! haha
The main issue I'm hoping they fix is the bug where enemies appear with blue names over their heads and vehicles instead of red. I've run by enemies several times because I looked at them and saw blue.

It also would be nice if they fixed the bug where friendly mines dont show up with the red warning on them.

Another cool option would be for commanders to pick different types of planes and helicopters to spawn at points like instead of JUST the F-35B on the carrier you could use another type of plane or instead of the tank you could use the anti-air/ground tank if it was needed. That would be cool but I can already see commanders spawning nothing but heavy tanks, Cobra choppers instead of Huey's, etc etc. That would probably end up screwing things up and making the gameplay less fun unless they did it just right.

I agree, that would be sweet--but perhaps a lot of code (and I would rather see the patch sooner not later).
WRT to the reinstalling with every patch--is it that you can't install the patch or can't play afterward? If it is that you can't play afterward--you might want to try applying the patch and then clearing out your [...\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache] folder under MyDocuments (and xpack's cache folder too if you have that) and let it rebuild completely (it will need to rebuild anyway, so you're not wasting here).

Well, EA released their list of fixes in the upcoming patch and they are about to mess up another part of the game. taking out the ability to change squad leaders while dead and rejoining the squad. I like this feature, i dont think it is a bug at all, clans use it all the time. here (
http://www.bf2.se/petition/) is a site/petition against the removal of teh feature. maybe, doubtfully, but maybe EA will listen.

i will try that with the 1.3 patch. BTW its WRT i cant play the game after a new patch is installed.
Last time i checked a patch fixed things, not added things for future patches to fix. ERRRRRR
We need to spam or D.O.Ss attack EA with the words
DUAL CORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've stopped playing BF2 because my internet has been very quirky lately. I'll probably start back up once Bellsouth gets it fixed. Anyone ever play in Cain's Lair?

Is there an option for HRD in BF2?
The game does support wide screen but you have to define customer resolutions in the command line. The only problem with that is when you swtich from BF2 to BF2:SF while IN the game, it defaults back to whatever option was specified in the games actual options screen.

dont know about HDR.
i got a wide screen monitor. i am mad still that they havent supported wide screen res through the game itself. but, i havent really notice that much of a difference. I still play it.

they STILL don't support widescreen? wtf is this the 12th century???

It's supported, but only through command line argument. It's ghey. I've been b!tchen about it since the first time I played BF2 back at LL8. Most games don't though. Alot of the newer ones (Read Valve) are starting to support it though. I get the feeling the only reason Oblivion does was because of the HDTV requirements of the XBox 360.

COD 2 supported it right out of the box.
