cpu read error

Post by grunt » Tue Sep 14, 2004 3:27 pm

Friend of mine tried installing a game (EA's "Black & White: Deluxe) and its having an error. When you run the game's diag it reads the cpu speed which should be a celeron 2.2ghz as a -2.2 chip... Whats the dealio?? I came over and he has the current updates and there is no driver conflicts as it appears.. Hoping you guys know

this is normal for some games.
This happened to me on Neverwinter nights.
Some games dont recognize CPU speeds over 2Ghz due to the fact that they werent designed with them in mind and hence read it at a negative number. For example NWN read my CPU as -2402Mhz, when it was 2.4Ghz.

Dont worry about it, just go into the game and change the settings manually.
