I have it, it's decnet, well rather my friend has it but I installed it and played it for a while. I haven't tried the multiplayer on it though. Single player is good not the best ever but good/solid.

I heard it was a great game to play, though it doesnt have the fancy eye candy. I have been wanting to try it myself...... is there a demo?

I don't know if theres a demo, and whoever told you there's no eye candy didn't play the game. It's pretty graphically stunning but it's a system decimator in the way only Oblivion has been to this point.

I like it as it reminds me in a lot of ways of Deus Ex, in terms of inventory managment and such. And the world is pretty open ended ala the Elder Scrolls games.

But it will crush your machine unmercifly beneath it's jacked Spetnatz boots.

Had it installed, tried it for 5mins and got killed :(
I've yet to reinstall it on the new rig. The new rig is currently running 2003 server with IE and Media player (completely) removed --> gives nice benchmark scores 8) Only problem is that PCMark requires IE to run

I'm running it at 1600x1200 on a C2D running 3.2Ghz, 4GB memory at 4-4-4-12 and a 7900GTX on XP Pro and am getting 40 frames per second... Everything is at defaults, but I turned on shadows for the grass.

good stuff

I played it. Wasn't very impressed. It started out interesting but became tedious. You have to backtrack so much and it's a pain with limited carrying ability and the exhaustion function. I stopped doing side quests because it was too irritating.

It was a game with a lot of potential but ended up feeling rushed. Which is amazing considering how long it took to develop.

Got it and I'm not a fan. The interface is clunky and there are a ton of bugs. People are talking to you and you see their mouths move but no sound. When I completed one mission and tried to talk to the guy, the talk screen flashed up and closed so I never got to see what he said. I hate that when you go to your inventory screen (to change weapons - shotgun to Ak47) the action keeps going and you can get shot. If you could switch them easier it would be better.

Bugs aside, I think it is great. My computer runs it pretty well considering it isn't a $1000 system. I can get in the 50s (FPS) most of the time with only object dynamic lighting.

Im on my second play through.

I actually LIKED that about the inventory screne. Gave the game a more realisitc feel to it. When you're in a firefight, the other guys not gonna stop shooting cause you gotta swap magazines.

Right, but in real life you don't have to hit "I", drag the AK47 in the place of the shotgun and hit "I". You drop one and reach for the other. This is why I said if you could switch them like you would from the handgun to the shotgun, it would be ok.

Try swaping a gun from your back to your hands when it's slung. A sidearms one thing.

That being said, to each thier own. I like it as it gives me a feeling of urgency that most games miss. I just wish the video were a little more "fluid" like Half Life or Oblivion.

I got pretty good at switching weapons... dodge behind something, bring up inventory, double click new weapon, hit escape. I could also get behind cover, and use a couple c-rations for healt... its all a matter of knowing where the items are in your inventory.

Is there a way to do a quick save? I can't seem to find one and it is bugging me.
I also kept running into an issue in the junkyard where I was getting rad poisoning and it was draining my health constantly. Kinda hard to have a firefight when you have to keep giving yourself med treatment and shots. I figured out that it was an artifact I had equipped myself with that was causing it. I was getting pissed at the game until I figured it out.

f7 quickloads your last quicksave too... very useful in tense situations. also, it auto saves anytime you load a new area map, so if you die and forgot to save a while ago, just load the auto save.

I did a time lapse thing to show the change from night to day using fraps (it has an option that will take a screenshot every 10 seconds) and it is very cool to see the progression.

There is a patch out now that adresses some bugs. **WARNING** if you install the patch, you will not be able to play any of your saved games - you will have to start the game over :x
