Windows Vista 64-Bit and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Problems and Issues

Well it seems the rumors are true... Tons of problems with Windows Vista 64-Bit and STALKER with the patch 1.0001.
I'm running a killer system... quad-core at 3.33Ghz with 1333Mhz FSB, RaptorX HDD's in RAID 0, GeForce 8800 Ultra video card and am having serious issues when dynamic lighting is enabled for full or objects... with static lighting I have no problems... but with an $830 video card I want my dynamic lighting...
I've tried the latest nvidia drivers 158.18 and the unreleased and still under NDA 158.42 drivers and nothing works... If it's a driver issue it's not going to be fixed quickly as the 158.42 drivers are next to be out and are still a bit away.
Check out what the game looks like with any dynamic lighting below!

i can run the game with all setting on full but it crashes heaps....
it crashes everytime at start of single player game i can only play it for like 5-20mins then it crashes or sometimes if i press esc to go to menu it crashes?
i haven gotten anywhere in the singleplayer campain and i havent tried multi player yet.
using the 1.001 patch might try 1.003 and see if it works for me

What video card and driver are you running? Did you ever have the problem that I am seeing with full dynamic range enabled?

8800GTX - 158.18 drivers
and no iv never seen that prob in ur screenshots even before the patches or prev video drivers ?
my problem was i couldnt play the game for very long without it crashing back to the desktop? no error messages with the 158.18 driver but prev video drivers when it crashed came up with video card not responding errors. with the 158.18 drivers and new patch its workin fine now for me
but i uninstalled the game and reinstalled with the full new patch 11mb or sumthin

Your video problem looks exactly opposite than mine when I first started playing the game.
I was running it on a 6150, and the sky was all messed up, it really made shooting people on the horizon a problem, but I made it almost the whole way through before I got my new vid card

iv only had 1 crash at start of 3rd or 4th level cant remember which?
(engine xray error or sumthin) and bugsplat???? I got no idea what that means???
but other than that 1 crash iv been playin it without a problem!

Apoptosis: I pretty much exactly your configuration and I had the same problem until a few mintues ago.
I went into the Nvidia Control Panel and set Antialiasing to use the application settings (on mine it was set to override).
I have every slider in the Advanced Video settings set to full except for Antialiasing (which I have heard is faked AA effect)
I would also recommend downloading the shader mod from here
http://www.thefloatingpoint.org/. The is an unofficial but optimised shaders for Full Dynamic Lighting. The guy who created them is boasting 20% speed increase.
I hope that resolved the problem for you.

now running stalker @ 1280x1024 all settings at max
my nvidia drivers were set to multiple display performance mode, thats why it was getting a bit jerky before when i had anti-analising at full.
since i changed the nvidia driver to single display performance mode its runs awesome now at max graphics
hopefully it will still run like this when i get my new monitor and go upto 1920x1200 resolution

yeah, running multiple displays really eats your resources.

According to the stalker website and Vista-64 bit issues inparticular, they claim that the sky texture issue (which I get on my machine as well) is a problem with Nvidia's drivers. Darn annoying, bucause until it is fixed, I'm sitting with a $40.00 paper wieght sitting on my desk.

get fraps, it has an FPS overlay that you can add to your games, and it also records video and takes screenshots
