The 13th Annual Event at CES 2010 will result in over $150,000 in donations to Charities Across the US
MIAMI, Fla. – December 30, 2009 – Systemax, Intel and CA are teaming up at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show for the 13th Annual Build Your Own PC Race for Charity. This event has helped raise nearly $2.5 million for charities around the country. This year’s event will be held from 5:30-8:00 p.m. PST on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Wynn Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas.
The objective of the Race is to determine who can assemble a computer containing all the latest cutting edge technology in the fastest amount of time. This year our racers will be building with an Intel Core i7 processor. Last year's winner, Al Hernandez from Fox Morning News, assembled his PC in just under 6 minutes, winning the event for the first time. He designated Challenged Athletes Foundation as the recipient of his built computer and the $10,000 first prize cash donation.
This year, the 30 participating technology journalists represent major media outlets in the technology and PC industry. Each racer will donate the computer they assembled, along with a complete selection of peripherals and upgrades, to the charity of their choice. The top three winners also receive a total of $13,500 in cash which will be donated to their designated charities- $10,000, $2,500 and $1,000 respectively. The 2010 participating racers include:
