OCZ Technology’s Vertex 2 Pro SSD Highlighted on AnandTech.com

“The Fastest Multi-Level Cell Solid State Drive We’ve Ever Tested”
SAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Jan 26, 2010 OCZ Technology Group, Inc., a worldwide leading provider of high-performance solid-state drives (SSDs) and memory modules for computing devices and systems, recently had its Vertex 2 Pro Solid State Drive reviewed on tech website AnandTech.com in a posting entitled, “OCZ’s Vertex 2 Pro Review: The Fastest MLC SSD We’ve Ever Tested.” AnandTech.com is a top independent IT source for hardware analysis and industry news. Click here to read the full article, which contains a comprehensive 14 page review of OCZ’s innovative storage technology.

Anand Lal Shimpi, editor-in-chief and CEO of AnandTech.com and author of the article, wrote, “The Vertex 2 did not disappoint. Or to put it more directly: it’s the first drive I’ve seen that’s actually better than Intel’s X25-M G2.” Mr. Shimpi continued, “The OCZ Vertex 2 Pro is the fastest single-controller MLC SSD I’ve ever tested, and it is not even running final firmware. At 50.9 MB/s in my desktop 4KB random write test, the Vertex 2 Pro is 36% faster than Intel’s X25-M G2.”

In a variety of other tests by Mr. Shimpi, the OCZ Vertex 2 SSD rivaled or outperformed the X25-M G2 and other Intel SSDs. The Vertex 2 Pro proved to be 6% faster than the X25-M G2 in the overall PCMark Vantage test, and it was 12% faster in the HDD specific suite.

The OCZ Vertex 2 Pro SSD provides a truly viable MLC solution for the enterprise market to make it cost-effective to exploit the benefits of SSDs. Compared to hard drives, SSDs deliver faster data rates, which are measured in MB/s (megabytes per second) or IOPS (input/output per second), along with increased reliability and reduced power consumption, all of which is currently driving the adoption of the company’s lineup of enterprise class SSDs and makes them ideal for use in applications such as data centers, tier 1 and 2 storage, and high-performance computing.
