iparkmycar App for iPhone and iPod Touch launches

The essential App to save time, money and take the stress out of parking in London

London, 2 June 2010 – The iparkmycar iPhone application launches today, offering a comprehensive guide to all the places to park in London. The app uses the iPhone’s GPS capabilities to help users make informed decisions on where to park by showing every option, whether it’s a car park, on street or Pay and Display, plus the relevant costs, revealing parking hidden gems and taking the stress out of parking in London.

iparkmycar gives Londoners and those visiting the city the inside track on how to be one step ahead of the parking wardens. Wherever you are in London, iparkmycar shows the closest car parks and residential parking zones (know as Controlled Parking Zones, or CPZs) which can also have a pay and display option. Often, council car parks and CPZs are only patrolled during certain hours which vary from borough to borough and zone to zone, but iparkmycar will indicate when the parking wardens clock off so that you can take advantage of the free parking on offer.

The app was created by Chris Bocsardy, a frustrated Londoner who was beginning to question why he bothered with his car in London after receiving one parking ticket too many. Chris was motivated to create a solution to his parking nightmares and painstakingly compiled information on over 1000 car parks and residential parking zones throughout Greater London.

iparkmycar lets you plan ahead, type in your destination and decide where to park before you head off plus receive a warning if you are entering the congestion zone with a ‘snoozable’ reminder to pay. The app also includes a timer function to warn you if your session is nearing the end to avoid parking fines or paying for extra time. For example, some car parks charge in batches of hours, up to 2 hours, up to 4 hours etc. If you park for 2 hours and 5 minutes, you pay for the whole 4 hours, which in some parts of London can cost over £10 extra.

Users can save their favourite parking locations for easy access whenever they need it and also save the car’s location to help find it later, especially handy when parking in a new or unknown area.

iparkmycar creator Chris Bocsardy said: “Parking in London isn’t cheap and is especially frustrating when you find out there was a cheaper option just around the corner. By combining some extremely time consuming personal research with the iPhone technology I realised I could create an app to help people save time, money and importantly stress when finding parking. Prices can vary a great deal from one car park to another, so this app will probably pay for itself the first time you use it.”

iparkmycar is available for iPhone and iPod touch on the iPhone App Store at an introductory price of £1.79 (£2.39 normal price). Every borough in Greater London is covered and there are already plans for more versions of the App covering different cities around the world. Further information is available at www.iparkmycar.co.uk.
