Fountain Valley, CA -- November 8, 2011 -- Kingston Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced that the Swiss overclocking community Ocaholic.ch, has achieved two new world records with the world’s fastest dual channel memory kit, Kingston® HyperX® 2544MHz (Kingston part #: KHX2544C9D3T1FK2/2GX).
The two new records for the DRAM modules were set on October 20, 2011 by two Swiss overclockers, Roger Tanner aka "splmann" and Marc Voser aka "Besi," during IM.TOP ― the in-house trade fair of Swiss distributors Ingram Micro in Lucerne. Kingston HyperX was clocked at 3095MHz at CL6 and 3175MHz at CL8 timings. These are the fastest frequencies ever achieved for memory with CL6 and CL8. To achieve this clock speed, the memory modules were cooled with liquid nitrogen. The memory slots were fixed in a cooler made from aluminium and copper with a basin at the top filled with -196°C liquid nitrogen.
“Regarding the topic of overclocking, there is an active community worldwide which is continually trying to operate PC components at a significantly higher clock speed than specified by their manufacturers,” explains Marc Büchel, chief editor and founder of Ocaholic.ch and initiator of the Swiss overclocking session. “Our platform has made a name for itself above all regarding the overclocking of main memory modules, and we are very proud to have beaten the world record for CL7 modules of our French overclocking colleagues Benjamin Bouix aka “Benji Tshi” and Jean-Baptiste Gerard which they achieved in August. At the same time we are looking forward, with anticipation, to the reactions of the worldwide community.”
