Intel Extreme Masters Season 2012/2013 brings superstar players to Cologne

The Intel® Extreme Masters Season 2012/2013 will launch at gamescom – Finals are to take place at CeBIT 2013 – StarCraft II and League of Legends confirmed
Cologne, 2nd of July 2012 – This year’s gamescom in Cologne will see the return of Intel Extreme Masters, the global pro gaming events tour, in its seventh season. Between August 15-19, the trade show’s visitors will get the chance to see the world’s best gamers competing in StarCraft II, a well-known RTS (real time strategy) game, and League of Legends, the world’s leading MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game. Gamers from all over Europe, Asia, South and North America are expected to compete for the Intel Extreme Masters Cologne trophy.

"Last year's Intel Extreme Masters at gamescom was mind-blowingly successful," says Michał Blicharz, Director of Pro Gaming at Turtle Entertainment. "We have every intention of making the swarm of fans that will come to the event in person and millions of our live stream viewers of the 2012 event even happier than last year. Our refined logo is not the only new thing about this season.”

After gamescom the Intel Extreme Masters tour will stop at trade shows in four other cities to end with the World Championship event at CeBIT 2013 in Hanover, Germany. A total of 1,8 million visitors are expected to get a chance to see the world’s best gamers in action competing for prestige and prize money. Another 20 million people from 180 countries are expected to view the events from home via online ESL TV broadcasts at www.esl.tv.
