New Form Factor Lets Integrators Build A Better MiniPC To Address The Needs Of Vertical Markets
San Jose, CA – March 06, 2006 - AOpen(R) Inc., an award-winning, global leader in the Mobile on Desktop (MoDT) technology and small form factor (SFF) PC platforms, today set another milestone in the miniaturized PC market with its new MiniPC incarnation, the MP945-V. The new MP945-V provides silent computing environment, power conservation, and excellent performance by integrating Pentium M/Celeron M (Core Duo) processors developed by Intel with Intel Viiv and AOpen’s MoDT platforms.
The AOpen MoDT technology differentiates the MP945-V from competition, and makes AOpen the No. 1 brand of SFF products. The MoDT architecture incorporates standards-based notebook components into traditional desktop platforms. The result is a cool, quiet, high performance environment for building thin and light machines. MoDT brings together Windows XP Media Center Edition, PDP (plasma display), big screen LCD and other high-end parts that make the personal computer the center of the home entertainment system.
In addition, the MoDT empowers channel partners to create unique new products that address the needs of their local markets, resulting in greater differentiation in the market and increased competitive advantage. The new MP945-V MiniPC is also the ideal solution for digital video recording and set top box environments, digital office and vertical applications in an area of digital signage, kiosk, gaming, and digital healthcare environments.
“There is a growing demand throughout the marketplace for sleek, quiet PCs that deliver great desktop performance in a small package,” said Chris Liu, Senior Director of AOpen. “AOpen is focused on creating innovative computing platforms that usher in a new era of working, playing, and living. Our MoDT and Intel VIIV based MP945-V Mini-PC fits seamlessly into the digital lifestyle. We are pleased to offer technology that addresses the needs of our channel partners and the consumer marketplace.”
The new MP945-V MiniPC has a 6” by 6” footprint and weighs less than five pounds. A motherboard design houses a Pentium M socket, Intel 945GM core logic, DDR2-SODIMM memory banks and a mini-PCI expansion slot. The AOpen MiniPC also includes a built-in S-Video port and audio-in.
The MP945-V features infrared sensors for remote control functions, Gigabit Ethernet, DVI, Firewire and USB 2.0. A SATA riser allows the 2.5” hard drive and slot-loading DVD burner to easily detach and reattach to the motherboard.
The MSRP for a fully configured MP945-V will start at $899.00. MSRP for the single core MP945 will start at $699.00. Aopen will reveal its newest MiniPC to channel partners tomorrow at Intel’s Developers Forum in San Francisco.
