New ARAID 2200 utilizes Silicon Image's SteelVine(TM) SiI5744 storage processor supporting SATA, eSATA and USB 2.0 on internal and external models for PCs
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Dec. 4, 2007 Accordance Systems today announced the ARAID 2200, the first drop-in Serial ATA II (SATA) RAID 1 storage solution for data protection. The device mirrors PC data to two SATA II drives ensuring critical data is not lost in the event of a disk failure. The ARAID 2200 easily installs in any Windows, Mac or Linux system as a plug-in disk array that requires no additional hardware or software to operate. The device mounts into two standard 5-1/4" PC storage bays and utilizes two standard 3-1/2" SATA II drives.
"We are pleased to be the first drop-in SATA II disk array for PCs adding to the proven line of Accordance ARAID IDE and SATA I data storage products", says Steve Johnson, president of Accordance USA. "Any PC user or integrator can add the ARAID 2200 disk array to their system and have confidence that their data will never be lost from a hard disk crash".
The ARAID 2200 appears as a single drive to the system but constantly mirrors data to two SATA II drives providing data protection. Each SATA II disk used in the disk array is housed in a removable, hot swap drive tray. The ARAID drive trays can be used for disk rotation for offsite storage in a similar manner as tape but with more reliability. Status of each drive is constantly displayed on ARAID's bright front panel LCD. In the event of a drive failure, the ARAID 2200 alerts you with LCD display, audio alarm, SNMP monitoring software and email.
"We're extremely pleased to continue our strong partnership with Accordance Systems as they implement our second generation storage processor in the ARAID 2200," said Conrad Maxwell, Silicon Image's senior product line manager for SteelVine products. "Our industry-proven solution helps enable customer's use of RAID in an easy and reliable way."
The ARAID 2200 utilizes Silicon Image's SteelVine(TM) SiI5744 storage processor, a highly integrated, high performance ASIC providing three built-in interfaces: SATA, eSATA and USB 2.0. The new ARAID 2200 not only provides true SATA II to SATA II capability, but also native command queuing capability. The ARAID 2200 is also equipped with an easy to read LCD screen as its human-machine interface and both RS-232 and USB connectors as host monitoring interfaces. SNMP support provides remote monitoring capabilities and provides system administrators with notification in the event of a disk failure.
The ARAID 2200 will be available in January of 2008. List price for the ARAID 2200 internal devices is $415/each. eSATA, SATA and USB external devices is $525/each. For more information go to the Accordance website at: http://www.accordancesystems.com.
