H3C, a wholly-owned subsidiary of 3Com and a leading global end-to-end IP networking solution provider, and Raza Microelectronics®, Inc. (RMI), a worldwide leader in advanced semiconductor solutions for Communications, Networking and Consumer Applications, today announced that H3C and RMI® have formed a wide-ranging strategic technology partnership focusing on the use of RMI’s multi-core, multi-threaded XLR Processor™ and XLS Processor™ Families across H3C’s networking, security and wireless applications.
H3C Technologies Co., Limited (H3C), a China-based provider of network infrastructure products, brings forward innovative, cost-effective product development and manufacturing and a strong footprint in one of the world's most dynamic markets. According to IDC, H3C (formerly known as Huawei-3Com) held over one-third of the Chinese LAN switch market and the powerful 3Com/Huawei combination now contributes to the company’s success in the Ethernet switch market. Initially a joint venture between US-based 3Com and China's Huawei, called Huawei-3Com Technology, the company became a wholly-owned subsidiary of 3Com when 3Com bought out Huawei's stake in March 2007.
The initial program in the strategic relationship calls for RMI to provide its XLR™ Processor, an industry-leading multi-core multi-threaded solution, for the SR series secure router. The SR is H3C’s latest flagship product to feature its innovative Open Application Architecture (OAA) and caters to enterprise networks that are deploying multiple voice, data and video services. As part of the SR Series, the SR6600 is a high-end, multi-services router, integrated with high performance and high throughput features, specifically designed and manufactured for the enterprise market. SR6600 is the first high-end router based on multi-core technology. With its state-of-art hardware platform and service-oriented design, this new product can easily expand to meet ever-increasing multi-services environments and applications requirements.
Based on RMI’s multi-core, multi-thread processors, the data forwarding and service processing engine exhibits a perfect balance between the CPU’s service/applications flexibility and high performance requirements. The SR can also easily adjust to different networking architectures with its full lines of optional modules, which can also adapt to mid- to low-end routers.
This announcement comes on the heels of RMI's recent customer announcements in China including TopSec and Lenovo, the 3 largest domestic networking and security vendors in China.
