ASUS Unleashes the World’s First EN8800GT Graphics Card with 1GB of Qimonda GDDR3 On-Board Memory

-- Enjoy games at high resolutions with maximum quality settings --

Image
FREMONT, CA (December 6, 2007) – ASUS®, worldwide leader in component and notebook design and manufacturing, today released the world’s first EN8800GT graphics card with 1GB of Qimonda™ memory: The EN8800GT/HTDP/1G. Rocking NVIDIA’S latest generation Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and an unparalleled amount of memory, this card is designed to provide a feature-rich Direct®X 10 gaming and multimedia playback experience at ultra-high resolutions and maximum quality settings. Additionally, with the new integrated SmartDoctor feature, users have the option to overclock the Shader Clock to achieve graphical performance boosts of more than 10%, while the unique Glaciator Fansink keeps the GPU running at temperatures that are up to 7ºC cooler than reference designed boards.

Unprecedented Performance with 1GB of Qimonda GDDR3 Memory
"From what our customers tell us, discerning gamers demand hardware that can truly unleash immersive graphics and unreal gaming performance. Our approach is to combine the most powerful GPU from NVIDIA with 1GB of high speed Qimonda GDDR3 memory,” said C.P. Wu, General Manager of ASUS Graphics and Multimedia Business. “We are proud to be the first manufacturer to introduce such revolutionary product,” continued Wu.

Even a powerful GPU can suffer from performance bottlenecks due to slow and insufficient memory. The more embedded memory a video card has the more data it can store, and therefore eliminating the need to use slower system memory. To address the requirements of today’s resource intensive PC games, the new ASUS video card offers not only more memory but faster memory. The end result is users can enjoy the ultimate gaming experience without lag or stuttering even at extremely high resolutions and with the maximum quality settings turned on.

“We are glad that Qimonda could offer ASUS this ultimate memory solution, which enables us to offer this leading product for the graphic card market”, said Robert Feurle, Vice President of Business Unit Graphics at Qimonda.

7ºC Cooler with Exclusive Fansink Design
The ASUS EN8800GT/HTDP/1G utilizes the specially designed Glaciator Fansink that effectively dissipates heat away from the graphics card. The Glaciator Fansink quickly transfers heat away from the GPU and lowers temperatures by an incredible 7ºC in comparison to reference design boards. Additionally, the Glaciator Fansink is quieter than generic fan sinks, making it a great choice for users who require maximum cooling without excessive fan noise.

Overclock the Shader Clock with New SmartDoctor
ASUS garners another world’s first by providing an overclocking utility that is able to tweak the Shader Clock on GPUs with SmartDoctor. With this application, users can overclock the Shader Clock and Engine Clock independently, achieving performance boosts of more 10% without having to reboot or re-flash their BIOS.

Exclusive ASUS GamerOSD for Versatile Graphics Usage
The ASUS EN8800GT/HTDP/1G comes with the exclusive ASUS GamerOSD, unleashing the true power of ASUS VGA cards. This feature is able to deliver GPU overclocking from onscreen displays during games; allowing users real-time performance upgrades when they need them most. Additionally, it provides users with the option to record live gaming action or live broadcasting over the Internet.

The ASUS EN8800GT/HTDP/1G will be available through ASUS authorized dealers in North America by the end of December.

I dunno, but ASUS are getting theirs from Qimonda, which could mean it's not going to be too fast, or if it is, it may not OC much......
Samsung have the market in GDDR @ the moment.

I guess we'll have to wait until LR gets a sample ;)

XFX is using Qimonda on their 8800 GT 512's too... Seem to be popular these days, but haven't heard bad things about them.

RivaTuner is what I've been using on my 8800GT.

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163
Updated databases for Detonator and ForceWare drivers. Added databases for ForceWare 163.74, 163.75, 163.76, 167.26, 169.01, 169.02 and 169.04.

Added NVIDIA G92 graphics processors family support. Now RivaTuner's driver-level tuning and low-level features including overclocking, monitoring, diagnostics and fan control are available on NVIDIA 8800GT and other upcoming G92 based NVIDIA products.
