CHICAGO FACES CAROLINA IN BATTLE FOR MOUNTAIN DEW TROPHY

Chicago rolled over Birmingham while Carolina squeaked past Berlin, setting the showdown for the first ever Championship Gaming Series World Final tonight. The Mountain Dew Trophy, global bragging rights and $500,000 are on the line.
SEMIFINALS
In what was the closest match yet in the international battle royale, Carolina Core edged out Berlin Allianz with a 22-21 win in the Semifinals at Sony Studios in Los Angeles. The outcome of the match, came down to the final turn of the Project Gotham Racing match where the Core were able to pull ahead to victory.
The final spot in the Finals went to the Region 1 Champions, Chicago Chimera. With wins in four of the five games, Chimera made another strong showing in the Semifinals as they defeated Birmingham Salvo 25-17.
Tonight's match-up will be a re-match of the Region 1 North American Final, where Chimera narrowly defeated Core by a score of 22-21. While the Core team boasts the number one male Dead or Alive player in Ryan “OffBeatNinja” Ward, Chimera has relied heavily upon their MVP's, Jason “Jason-X” Exelby and Wesley “Ch0mpr” Cwiklo from Project Gotham Racing. Every point will count tonight as it all comes to a head after months of competition and training.
BATTLE OF THE SEXES
In a side competition, also held last night, Ryan Ward defeated Vanessa Arteaga 5-2 to claim the first ever “Itagaki Challenge.”
