MIAMI--With the all-new Alienware High Definition Media Server, Alienware - the leading manufacturer of high-performance desktop, notebook and professional systems - brings customers one step closer to a fully integrated, digital life. System integrators, distributors and home builders can now join the Alienware Digital Home Channel Program to become an authorized reseller of the media server.

The ideal product for upscale mediaphiles, the Alienware High Definition Media Server integrates seamlessly into a home entertainment system, creating a centralized source for storage, retrieval and distribution of digital content.

Its 4TB capacity holds a lifetime's worth of digital movies, music, photos and more, which can then be sent to multiple points throughout a house. Users can stream files wirelessly or via a home network to any computer in the house while an array of audio and video outputs deliver limitless possibilities.

"Alienware is a leader in digital entertainment - as evidenced by our high-performance multi-media and gaming platforms," says Marc Diana, product marketing manager for Alienware. "The Alienware High Definition Media Server fulfills a distinct and growing need both of distributers and installers looking for a better digital media solution and of consumers venturing into an era of digital integration."

Benefits to the end user include:

* Single source consolidation of digital media eliminates trying to remember which files are saved on which computer.
* Remote access from any Internet-ready Windows® system or Windows® mobile device lets users enjoy their digital libraries from anywhere.
* Multi-room music devices and media extenders eliminate conflicts over multiple users trying to access different files from the same system.
* High definition playback allows users to view downloaded HD content directly or watch movies on Blu-ray Disc® in full 1080p.
* Four hot-swappable hard drives, totaling 4TB of capacity, utilize a RAID 5 configuration for automatic backups and increased data security.
* 7.1 Surround Sound Preamp Output eliminates need for a breakout box for a direct external amp connection.

Agreed. I checked the specs and they say DVI/HDMI output so it should satisfy people like us who demand HDMI support:
Graphics & Video

* Standard: ATI® 2400 HD Graphics with DVI to HDMI Adapter (1080p)
* Video out Standard:
o DVI/HDMI Video
o VGA
o S-Video
o Component Video Out
o Component video out with S-Video to Component adapter

Heh...another gem:
Who is the Alienware High-End Media Server for?

Installers, Resellers, and Home Builders looking to create the high definition digital home of tomorrow with full home integration in mind. The Alienware High-End Media Server will only be sold through the Alienware Channel program and will not be available direct to consumers.
Hope it's not one of those, "if you have to ask, then you can't afford it" type of technology.....
