MIAMI -- Alienware® – the leading manufacturer of high-performance desktop, notebook and entertainment systems – quadruples your graphics power by launching ATI CrossFireX™ on their elite ALX CrossFireX desktop computer. The first-ever quad GPU gaming solution supporting DirectX® 10.1, the Area-51 ALX featuring CrossFireX technology offers users the world’s most powerful graphics.

The Alienware ALX CrossFireX utilizes two ATI Radeon™ HD 3870 X2 graphics cards, each housing two GPUs and a full 1GB of dedicated graphics memory – that’s 2GB of dedicated GDDR3 graphics memory. This multi-GPU structure allows CrossFireX to deliver up to 4X the graphics processing power and 4X the mayhem.

“Alienware is extreme high-performance PC gaming,” said Marc Diana, Product Marketing Manager for Alienware, “and expectations are never higher than when dealing with the ALX CrossFireX, our most sophisticated desktop system. Adding the awesome power of a quad graphics solution like CrossFireX to the ALX desktop is just one more way Alienware strives to deliver the world’s best PC gaming experience.”

With ATI’s Catalyst™ software and Microsoft Windows Vista®, users can “un-lock” their GPU controls to manually set the engine and memory clocks for overclocking and dramatic performance boosts. Temperature displays and VPU recover safety features make it easier to properly maintain your system. An auto-configure utility option overclocks to a preset, stable speed.

“CrossFire™ is another example of AMD’s continued commitment to technology leadership. With CrossFireX driving the graphics capabilities of such an acclaimed system as the Alienware ALX CrossFireX, together we’re driving The Ultimate Visual Experience™ for PC gamers,” says Rick Bergman, Senior Vice President, AMD’s Graphics Product Group. “CrossFireX allows for more immersive gaming than before, giving gamers the ability to play at high resolutions and settings with great performance, along with leading multimedia capabilities for the HD world we live in.”

“Alienware chooses only the industry’s top innovations to integrate into our award-winning computers,” said Diana. “We are confident that with the addition of CrossFireX, Alienware and AMD will continue to shape the field of PC gaming well into the next generation of systems.”
