LucidPort introduces Wireless USB Media Streaming Adapter
Intel Developer Forum, San Francisco, CA - August 19, 2008 - LucidPort Technology today demonstrated wireless media streaming to a TV (booth# 814). Using the TV's standard remote control, browse the digital pictures and MP3 music stored on your notebook PC. Simply plug in LucidPort's wireless USB media adapter to the wired USB port on the TV. There's no additional interface to learn. No setup or installation is necessary for the "wireless TV".

Utilizing the wireless USB protocol, the adapter shares the files stored on a wireless USB enabled PC with whatever device it is plugged into - this could be a TV, a set top box, a printer, or another computer. "Plug the adapter into a set top box and send high definition movies to your TV", said Reid Augustin, VP of Product Development at LucidPort. "Plug the adapter into another computer and wirelessly transfer files from one PC to another."

This media streaming adapter is a reference design based on LucidPort's L800 Wireless USB Peripheral Controller. The L800 features:
* Support for all functions required by the wireless USB and WiMedia protocols
* Integrated device association logic (both cable and numeric)
* A natively wireless design providing end-user throughput over 120Mbps
* Compatibility certification from both the USB-IF and the WiMedia Alliance

Pricing and Availability
The L800 is available for mass production now. It comes in a lead free 108-ball BGA package (11x11mm, 0.8mm pitch). The L800 is priced under 5 dollars in large quantities.
