In time for holiday shopping, Hardcore Computer launches economical versions of Reactor™ starting at $3,672

When I first saw this I though that the liquid submersion was just PR speak for watercooled, but after reading the stuff on their site, it looks like they actually do mean liquid submerged components!

if you had exces money youd be better off with doing conventional liquid cooling!

Functionality, yes. For giggles, no. I dunno, there's just something cool (pun not intended) about a liquid immersed system.
Besides, the excess money comment here is more the "I'm so rich, $5,000 is just a weekly allowance." rather than "I worked hard and saved up $5,000." If it was hard earned money, I'd likely go with an air-cooled system. I reckon that's easier to maintain than a liquid-cooled one. Easier on the pocket, too, so the rest can be put into other things.

I've seen this done before with mineral oil. Some guy on YouTube has a cool video of him making one out of a 5gal aquarium, a Lian Li mobo tray, and an old PC. Even has the PSU sitting in there. Added an aquarium airstone for effect. I've got an old P2 700 laying around I've considered doing this with for a HTPC or some such but it is to much work and a mess to should you need to change out components.

I do believe you send the system back to them when swapping components. Just not sure if they charge you a service fee for that.

There are three in that pic, and they have got some sort of riser that lets them all sit parallel to the motherboard.

oh, duh! i see it. I thought those were the sticks of RAM, but now I can see the SLI/crossifre connectors.

I remember reading a blog sort of thing about someone who did this, it was posted on LR once before (too lazy to find it). They had a problem with the mineral oil seeping up through the cables for the keyboard and mouse.

the problem with this sort of thing is just that once you start mixing electricity and liquid theres just all kinds of problems. the thing is, as much as i hate to admit it, doing extreme awesome stuff like this is just playing with yourself. same goes for conventional liquid cooling, in most cases, your just playing with yourself
