iPhone Users Can Now Customize and Share Photos with New HolidayFrames Application from Big Canvas
BELLEVUE, Wash. --(Business Wire)-- Dec 16, 2008 Big Canvas, Inc., a creator of social networking iPhone applications, today announced that it has released its fifth application, HolidayFrames. The application allows users to customize photos on the iPhone and iPod Touch with holiday-themed photo frames and accessories to share with family and friends. HolidayFrames costs $1.99 and is available through Apple’s App Store.
HolidayFrames complements PhotoShare, the company’s flagship iPhone application. With PhotoShare, users participate in a mobile social network by sharing photos in real-time to engage in “visual conversations” with friends.
HolidayFrames is the first application in the Frames series from Big Canvas. These applications will include themed frames for a range of occasions, including holidays such as Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day as well as birthdays and other celebrations.
After downloading HolidayFrames, customers will receive approximately 30 fun frames to creatively decorate their photos including snowflakes, Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year’s borders, as well as Santa hats and reindeer ears to drag over photos of friends, family and even pets. Once customized, users can then share their photos via e-mail or the PhotoShare network. For a demo of the application, click here.
“HolidayFrames adds yet another dimension to the visual conversations occurring with PhotoShare, because users can spontaneously send polished and personalized holiday cards to friends with the touch of a finger,” says Big Canvas Chief Executive Officer Satoshi Nakajima. “PhotoShare has really changed how iPhone users communicate. They are embracing the ‘always-connected’ lifestyle on a new level by sharing photos and experiences in real-time and we believe add-on applications such as HolidayFrames continue to drive this new era of social networking.”
Features and Benefits
With HolidayFrames, iPhone users can now enjoy an inexpensive, fun and casual way to jazz up their photos and share holiday wishes. The application is easy to use and offers a variety of frames for broad appeal. Photos can be adjusted behind the frames to align a face behind Rudolph’s ears and nose or center an image. Several of the frames can include multiple photos, so customers can share a montage of images with family and friends in a creative holiday-card format.
“I think HolidayFrames is one of the best all-in-one photo frame apps available in the Apple app store,” said HolidayFrames user Patrick Timney, whose PhotoShare nickname is ‘the scw.’ “It has stunning visual effects and original frames that capture the essence of the holiday spirit. HolidayFrames is a sleek & easy to use application that has allowed me to easily send holiday greetings to my friends and family and has quickly become one my favorite applications from Big Canvas.”
Big Canvas will communicate with HolidayFrames users to gain feedback on the application. In the spirit of social networking, the company will incorporate insights from the HolidayFrames and PhotoShare community into its plans for new frames and iPhone applications.
“Interacting with our customers in a casual, real-time conversation is part of our business model, and evidence of how social networking on mobile phones is changing the game for software developers,” said Big Canvas Chief Operating Officer Adam Goldblatt. “This conversation lets us cater to our customers to provide cool content and services.”
Big Canvas will continue the dialogue with its customers to determine what frames they’d like as well as to implement a contest to solicit the best designs for Valentine’s Day Frames. As part of this contest, PhotoShare and Frames users can submit their ideas for its Valentines Day Frames release to win cash prizes and iTunes gift cards. More details about this contest will be announced closer to the release date.
