DIGITAL IMAGING AWARD -- BEST 2005 IMAGING STORAGE PRODUCT
TIPA Award Is Europe’s Highest Prize For Best Photo Products
COLOGNE, GERMANY, June 16, 2005 – SanDisk® Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK) today announced that the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA), an organization of 30 top photography publications from across Europe, has given its Best Imaging Storage Media Award For 2005 to the SanDisk Extreme™ III line of high-speed storage cards. SanDisk Extreme III cards, the world’s fastest flash memory cards, were recognized by leading editors, many of whom are professional photographers, as setting “a new standard for industry performance.”
SanDisk officials received the award today at a TIPA ceremony in Cologne. TIPA editors judge on quality, performance and value -- criteria that are very important to all photographers.
“We have worked very hard to take the leadership position in the digital camera storage card market,” said Tanya Chuang, product marketing manager for SanDisk’s high performance media cards. “It is an honor to be recognized by such a distinguished panel of experts, and this coveted award makes all of us at SanDisk very proud. The TIPA Award is further validation that SanDisk’s Extreme III cards will meet the rigorous demands of digital photographers around the world.”
In a statement issued today, TIPA said, “New camera generations raise the demand for new forms of storage media and the SanDisk Extreme III memory card doubles the speed of the previous incarnation. It is powered by (SanDisk developed) ESP (Enhanced Super-Parallel Processing) Technology and enables transfer rates up to 20 megabytes (MB) per second between camera and card, thus accelerating storage and viewing of digital photos with high-end, professional digital cameras. Their performance and rugged build make the SanDisk Extreme III memory cards a reliable choice for digital photo professionals.”
The TIPA award is an endorsement for the superior speed and performance of the SanDisk Extreme III line, which includes CompactFlash®, Memory Stick PRO™ and SD™ card formats. SanDisk Extreme III cards are targeted at high-megapixel resolution digital cameras that can take advantage of a significantly faster memory card. The CompactFlash and SD cards have minimum write and read speeds of 20MB/sec*. Memory Stick PRO has minimum write and read speeds of 18MB/sec*. The cards range in capacity between 1 and 4 gigabytes.
SanDisk is the original inventor of flash storage card products, and is the world’s largest supplier of flash data storage card products, using its patented, high-density flash memory and controller technology. SanDisk is headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA and has operations worldwide, with more than half of its sales outside the U.S.
*Based on SanDisk internal testing. 1 megabyte = 1 million bytes; 1 gigabyte = 1 billion bytes.
