ARCHOS introduced the Archos 9 PCtablet today in San Francisco, CA. The new entertainment tablet features the Intel® Atom™ processor and combines the performance and full Internet of a portable PC with elegant design. The ARCHOS 9 ushers in a whole new era of Netbooks with full internet media capability and additional capabilities including video conferencing.
Ron Ferguson, Senior V.P. and General Manager of ARCHOS North America outlined the market for the new ARCHOS 9. “Working closely with Intel, ARCHOS is able to deliver the PC tablet on the market, an ultra-light and ultra-thin design with the performance and internet compatibility of the Intel Atom processor.. These products will blend the computing horsepower of a laptop with the rich multimedia experiences that ARCHOS has come to be known for.”
The ARCHOS 9 will start shipping on Oct. 22nd 2009 and will retail for $500. Consumers will have a choice between black and white designs and a host of accessories such as a portable keyboard and cases. ARCHOS announced that the ARCHOS 9 will be available through leading PC resellers.
At 0.68”, the ARCHOS 9 is extremely thin and pushes the boundaries of style and function. The PCtablet sports a full touch-sensitive 9” resistive screen and has a virtual keyboard. The innovative optical trackpoint and buttons allows easy navigation on screen, and provides an uncompromised PC experience.

The ARCHOS 9 PCtablet features the new Intel® Atom™ processor Z515, Microsoft Windows® 7 Operating System and an integrated multimedia platform that uses WiFi 802.11b/g connection and Bluetooth 2.0 for fast computing anywhere, anytime.
