Alienware Introduces 19" 4ms Samsung LCD Gaming Monitor

Post by Apoptosis » Wed Aug 03, 2005 11:51 am

New 930BF Monitor Featuring Blazing 4ms Response Time Available Now Exclusively from Alienware.

Okay... I have a problem with this first statement... "EXCLUSIVE"... Going to the Samsung sitelooks like a public model. Going over to our shopping site it seems like CDW carries it for $500 (although out of stock right now)
MIAMI, FL - August 2, 2005 - Alienware(r), the leading manufacturer of
high-performance desktop, notebook, media center, and professional
systems, announced the availability of the new 19-inch 930BF LCD monitor
from Samsung. The 930BF, an analog and digital TFT-LCD that boasts a
remarkable 4ms response time, is currently available exclusively from
Alienware.

The incredibly quick 4ms response time of the 930BF LCD monitor allows
users to experience extraordinarily sharp and detailed motion right from
their desktop. The 930BF also delivers exciting advancements like an
ultra-high 700:1 contrast ratio, a brightness level of 270 cd/m2, and a
1280 x 1024 resolution to further ensure the crispest text and the most
vibrant colors possible.

The 930BF LCD monitor comes loaded with numerous special features such
as built-in power, MagicTune(tm) technology, and MagicColor(tm)
technology. MagicTune is an integrated software program designed to
optimize all monitor settings, while MagicColor allows natural colors to
be displayed more clearly without affecting image quality. In addition,
the 930BF offers 160-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles for
maximum flexibility.

"Customers looking for the 4ms 930BF LCD monitor will only find it in
one place - Alienware," said Patrick Cooper, director of product
management for Alienware. "Because of the ever-increasing needs of the
latest games, DVDs, and streaming video, users need the fastest,
sharpest monitor possible, and the 930BF delivers on all levels."

Only 16.2 million colors, I won't be considering it.

And it's 1280x1024, I've never liked that resolution, it's a 5:4 aspect ration, which is even less wide than the standard 4:3 ratio.
Since moving up to 1600x1200 displays, using any less desktop space is almost painful. I also find that for the majority of games, moving up to a higher resolution gives better results than increased AA, if the monitor supports it.
