Motorola Delivers its RX48 Decoupled Upstream Module to Telenet to Grow CMTS Capacity and Deliver Higher Speeds

Telenet is the first European customer to migrate to the RX48 decoupled upstream module

ZURICH – Cable Congress 2011 – Feb. 15, 2011 – Motorola Mobility Holdings, Inc (NYSE: MMI) today announced that Telenet, the leading provider of broadband cable services in Belgium, has selected Motorola’s RX48 decoupled upstream module to enhance the capacity of existing and new BSR 64000 Integrated Cable Modem Termination System (I-CMTS) deployments within its network. With the RX48 module Telenet can economically meet growing demand for increased broadband throughput in support of a growing list of consumer experiences such as social media, streaming video and multi-screen IP video delivery.

The addition of the Motorola RX48 module will enable Telenet to offer its end-users higher speeds at a much lower cost per channel. Once installed with the RX48 module, Motorola’s BSR 64000 I-CMTS solution more than doubles the total upstream density per BSR 64000 versus previous DOCSIS® 2.0 configurations. The combination of the DOCSIS 3.0 RX48 and TX32 high-density decoupled modules, along with the simplicity of the integrated design of the BSR 64000, address the need for both improved deployment economics and the ease of expanding both upstream and downstream capacity.

Through this highly scalable solution Motorola can help cable operators achieve substantial capital savings over traditional upstream and downstream modules. In addition, the RX48 delivers significant energy efficiency, with a per channel power reduction of 81 percent over previous modules.
