AOL Announces Participation in World iPv6 Day
Dulles, VA - May 19, 2011 – AOL today announced that it will join leaders from across the industry to participate in "World IPv6 Day" on June 8, 2011. The event, which is sponsored by the Internet Society (ISOC), is designed to provide a global "test flight" of IPv6 capabilities bringing together major web providers, network operators, and ISPs to enable end-to-end IPv6 capabilities on major websites for 24 hours.

"As a major content publisher, we recognize the critical importance of supporting the migration from IPv4 to IPv6," said Alex Gounares, CTO of AOL. "Joint website and ISP participation in testing on World IPv6 Day is critical to ensuring the hundreds of millions of end users visiting AOL properties will have no hiccups or interruptions when we enable IPv6 across these sites in the future."

The goal of IPv6 Day is to promote cooperation towards a common goal of enabling successful migration to IPv6 at scale on a global basis. AOL will enable IPv6 for the following web properties on World IPv6 day as it works to enable all of its products and services with IPv6 in the future:

· AOL Homepage - http://www.aol.com
· AOL Search - http://search.aol.com
· Mapquest - http://www.mapquest.com
· Engadget - http://www.engadget.com
