AMD Helps Meet Increased Demand for Basic Needs Assistance in Austin

-$100,000 contribution to Basic Needs Council of Central Texas helps build funds affected by hurricane disaster relief -
November 30, 2005 - Austin, TX. - AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced that
it has donated $100,000 to the Basic Needs Coalition of Central Texas
(BNC) for the Best Single Source (BSS) project, an alliance of
non-profit agencies pooling resources and information to provide a
comprehensive solution to meet the basic needs of individual clients.
These funds will enable the coalition to continue helping the large
number of evacuees of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita rebuild their lives in
Austin without abandoning existing clients by providing additional
assistance for food, housing stability, utilities and direct case
management.

"Because Red Cross and FEMA assistance is temporary, local agencies that
are already strapped for funds are being challenged to support evacuees
who need long-term assistance to help them get back on their feet again.
AMD's generous donation makes it possible for us to continue support
long after these funds are depleted," said Susan Eason, executive
director of the Arc of the Capital Area and the current chair of the
Basic Needs Coalition. "AMD's commitment of technology, volunteers and
financial donations through the years has been a critical component in
BNC accomplishing our mission."

Each of the agencies that participate in the Best Single Source project
- AIDS Services of Austin, Any Baby Can Child and Family Resources, Arc
of the Capital Area, Caritas of Austin, Family Eldercare, Goodwill,
Meals on Wheels and More, and SafePlace - share resources such as
supportive services funds and a Web-based database system. AMD provided
technology during the early founding stages of the program, which has
been recognized for its efficiency and effectiveness.

"AMD strives to be a vital, contributing member of the communities in
which we operate because we believe that the company's health is
directly related to the health of our communities," said Allyson
Peerman, director of global community affairs, AMD. "In 2005, AMD
invested $4.3 million in cash contributions globally, proudly working
with organizations like the Basic Needs Coalition of Central Texas that
are committed to strengthening the community and helping others
succeed."

In Austin, where the company employs more than 3,000 employees, AMD
donated more than $800,000 to the local community in 2005. Recipient
organizations in Austin include Austin's People's Community Clinic,
Meals on Wheels and More, Capital Area Food Bank, Family Eldercare,
University of Texas College of Education, St. Edwards University, and
Girlstart. In addition, AMD employees have volunteered more than 1,800
hours in Austin through company sponsored volunteer events and donated
534 pints of blood during on-campus blood drives.

AMD was recognized by the Austin Chronicle with the 2005 Corporate Acts
of Civility award for contributing more than 300 Personal Internet
Communicators (PICs) to hurricane evacuee shelters in Austin, San
Antonio and Houston. The PIC labs were used by evacuees to register on
"I'm safe" sites, apply for work and assistance, and communicate with
family and friends. This donation to BNC extends AMD's commitment to
improve the lives of hurricane victims and Austin residents through a
comprehensive, long-term approach to community advancement.
