TAIPEI, TAIWAN, OCT. 21, 2011 – After having attracted 450,000 visitors, Taipei World Design Expo 2011 will open more additional exhibits in TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall, in the outskirts of Taipei, from Oct. 22, where 58 enterprises from will display their design strength, including the BenQ Group. The exhibition pavilion of BenQ Group will take the shape of a cocoon, demonstrating the design philosophy of "Meeting of Opposites," which will blend technological development and humanistic environment.
The unique "Meeting of Opposites" philosophy of BenQ accommodates both technology and sustainable environment, sense and sensibility, and oriental and western ingredients. The design concept is the secret behind the company's success in winning various kinds of international acknowledgement in the design community since the establishment of its design centers from 2002. Over the past nine years, the company has won 326 awards from the world's four major design contests (iF, red-dot, IDEA, and G-mark). Its design strength was also reported as a cover story in the Asian edition of Business Week.
The "chrysalis" exhibition pavilion of BenQ draws its inspiration from the metamorphosis of baby silkworm into butterfly. It is made of woven bamboo strips, mimicking the shape of a chrysalis, and surrounded by a piece of lawn, so that visitors can enjoy a feast of design in a natural environment. The weaving of the bamboo pavilion is a time-consuming and painstaking manual work, under the guidance of bamboo-weaving masters.
K.Y. Lee, chairman of BenQ Group, remarks that "Our design projects an emphasis on the sustainable development of the earth. The holding of Taipei World Design Expo represents the acknowledgement of Taiwan's design strength by the world, while our attendance of the exhibition, along with other noted brands and designers, is also a proof of our design ability and an affirmation of our brand's design concept."
Since the establishment of its own brand 10 years ago, BenQ has been adhering to the consistent spirit of the brand and realizing the design philosophy of "Meeting of Opposites," so as to achieve the goal of helping customers enjoy technology and enhanced life quality. BenQ's pavilion is located on the fourth floor of Nangang Exhibition Hall, booth No. A15, and the exhibition will take place from Oct. 22 (Saturday) to Oct. 30 (Sunday). BenQ designers will be present at the pavilion to help visitors have deeper understanding of the display.
