Long Beach, Calif., January 10, 2012 — JVC Mobile Entertainment, the premier developer and manufacturer of sophisticated mobile, audio, and video products, introduces App Link Mode, an update to its previous Advanced External mode offering enhanced connectivity for the ultimate in-vehicle consumer experience. In App Link mode, the head unit provides control similar to the iPod®/iPhone®, offering simultaneous playback and display of App data on the receiver’s screen. App Link mode is included in four new multimedia units, starting with the KW-AV60, which retails for $429.95. There are several applications outlined below that are compatible with this new JVC technology.
MotionX® GPS-Drive turns your iPhone® into the next-generation car and pedestrian navigation solution with new features not yet seen on mobile devices, including “door-to-door” personal navigation tools, user interface innovations to simplify the navigation experience, and live search. Using App Link Mode, Two or Three-Dimensional maps are displayed on the multimedia receiver’s LCD display while turn-by-turn commands are voiced through the vehicle’s speakers. Many key features of the App such as map scroll, zoom in and out, traffic display, and voice guidance muting can be controlled on-screen as well.
MOG is a music streaming application that allows subscribers to enjoy unlimited mobile downloads and stream over 10 million songs on demand to your computer, iPhone® or iPod® Touch, Roku and Google TV. Utilizing App Link Mode, display of album artwork and artist/song/album information can be seen on the large 6.1” or 7” screen display. The ability to fast-forward, rewind, play and pause is also a key feature of this app that can be controlled on-screen.
Web Reader 2.2 for iPhone® uses text to speech technology along with web page content recognition to read web pages out loud. You can configure web pages to be read as soon as they are loaded, or use Cut, Copy, and Paste to read only sections of text. When operated with the JVC multimedia receiver, Web Reader reads web pages and social media sites aloud through car speakers while driving using the text to speech engine, allows skip forward or skip backward to the next paragraph or webpage section, and also has play and pause functions on screen.
