SUNNYVALE, Calif. - Jan. 30, 2006 - AMD (NYSE: AMD) and HP (NYSE: HPQ) (Nasdaq: HPQ) today announced that they have generated more than $2 million to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) through sales of the HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook PC, powered by AMD Turion(tm) 64 mobile technology. Thanks to the tremendous success of this initiative, availability of this one-of-a-kind notebook will be extended through June 2006.

Available since June of last year, the HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook PC bears the LIVESTRONG(tm) message and a reproduction of Lance Armstrong's autograph. For each HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook PC shipped to date, the LAF has received $50 from AMD and HP.

AMD has made a two-year commitment to help generate a minimum of $4 million for the LAF. As an ongoing part of this support for the LAF and its mission, AMD was the Official Technology Partner of the 2005 LIVESTRONG Ride in Portland, Oregon and the 2005 Ride for the Roses Weekend in Austin, Texas.

"We continue to be inspired by the success that Lance Armstrong has achieved against all odds, as well as the opportunity to help people break free from traditional barriers through the use of innovative AMD64 solutions," said Henri Richard, executive vice president, chief sales and marketing officer, AMD. "Through our joint efforts with HP, we continue to raise awareness about the LAF and provide assistance for the community it serves."

"HP is thrilled with the success of the HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook PC and the support that we have been able to provide to the LAF," said Mark Sanchez, vice president, Consumer Computing - North America, HP. "The introduction of this notebook PC has been overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to continuing to offer our customers this unique system."

"The LAF's mission is to inspire and empower people affected by cancer," said Mitch Stoller, CEO of Lance Armstrong Foundation. "AMD understands this and has helped deliver our organization's message to the community we serve. We are thankful for the continued support of AMD and HP."

Demand for the special edition HP notebook has been so great that some North American retail centers have seen an entire shipment sell out within hours. In addition to the stores that have carried the HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook PC to date, several additional retail outlets are expected to offer the computer, including Best Buy (Canada-based stores), circuitcity.com, and J & R Computer World. Target.com, uBid.com and Walmart.com will have the notebook available for purchase in February 2006.

"The powerful collaboration of industry leaders HP and AMD continues to yield successful results, as demonstrated by the HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook PC," said Stephen Baker, vice president, Industry Analysis, NPD Group.
