Hundreds of Gamers Swarm the Global Launch Event in Hannover, Corsair to Join the Revolution
(HANNOVER, Germany) – March 15, 2006 – The revolution is upon us. News of the KODE5 Global Launch at CeBIT Hannover spread quickly throughout the Internet and beyond, as gamers crowded the Foxconn booth to catch a glimpse of the start of the Global Gaming Revolution. With Team Sportscast Network doing the play-by-play, Giga TV hosting and covering the event, and Team Dignitas on deck to challenge the crowd, the event was a rousing success.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled with the response at the KODE5 Global Launch,” notes Lester Lau, KODE5 Revolutionary-in-Command. “The wheels have been set in motion, and with the CeBIT Launch, the entire KODE5 team is looking forward to bringing the world one of the must-go gaming events of 2006.”
The KODE5 Global Launch Event captured the attention of hundreds of gamers in attendance. To celebrate the launch, gamers from the audience had a chance to play a series of fun Quake 4 matches with top players James “TooGoood” Harding and Paul “astz!” McGarrity for some great prizes, including Foxconn motherboards, Foxconn PC Chasis, Intel CPUs and Corsair memory modules, and cool KODE5 swag. Foxconn Marketing Manager Christin Wang was also there to take part in the festivities by challenging TooGood to a special handicap showmatch!
“We had great fun at the KODE5 Global Launch,” says James “TooGoood” Harding, member of Team Dignitas. “The interaction with the crowd was phenomenal, and all of us are looking forward to what KODE5 can bring to the gaming scene this year.”
Team Dignitas participated in a series of showmatches against some of Europe’s top teams and players, including GoodGame, a-Losers, mTw, MouseSports, StarComa, and Team Pentagram. StarComa’s female Counter-Strike squad was also there to join in the fun.
For the CeBIT launch, we announced that if a Counter-Strike team were able to beat Team Dignitas in a best two-out-of-three match, they would get automatic seeding in the German KODE5 Regional Finals. After a hard-fought battle, the first team able to do it was French team GoodGame, defeating Team Dignitas in two maps.
"GoodGame played a great match that day,” says Mike “spx” Luetzhoeft. “It was great fun, and we wish them the best of luck in the German KODE5 Regional Finals."
On a global level, Foxconn was the first to have announced support for the KODE5 project. We are pleased to announce today that performance memory maker Corsair will also be joining us to spread the message of gaming to a mainstream audience.
