ATI Drives High Definition Content in Acer's HD-DVD Notebook

Acer's new Aspire 5670 HD-DVD notebook uses ATI's Mobility(TM) Radeon(R) X1600 featuring Avivo(TM) video and display technology to take portable entertainment and mobile computing into the HD era
MARKHAM, ONTARIO, Jun 5, 2006 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX News Network) -- ATI Technologies Inc. (TSX:ATY) (NASDAQ:ATYT) announced today that Acer has selected ATI's leading Mobility™ Radeon® X1600 graphics processor for its new Aspire 5670 HD-DVD enabled notebook to offer leading edge portable entertainment and HD-DVD playback capabilities.

ATI's Mobility Radeon X1600 is ideal for achieving advanced graphics performance in a thin-and-light notebook while delivering enhanced 3D gaming, high quality video playback, and longer battery life. The X1600, equipped with ATI's Avivo™ high definition video and display enhancement technology, ensures the Aspire 5670 delivers unparalleled performance and top-notch mobile entertainment.

As devices rely more heavily on graphics performance and improved graphics capabilities to drive the digital home, the demand for high quality visual content has increased. To meet this need, Acer's Aspire 5670 combines all the computing power of a leading notebook with out-of-this-world multimedia and digital entertainment capabilities. The Aspire 5670 is among the first notebooks from Acer as well as the industry, to support the HD-DVD format.
