DIGITAL BOLLYWOOD EVENT SPOTLIGHTS VISUAL EFFECTS AND ANIMATION LEADERS
NVIDIA Hosts Industry Event November 14, in Mumbai, India to Advance Technology for Digital Animation and Visual Effects Communities
Digital Bollywood is fast becoming the pulse of the animation industry as technology drives innovation in this emerging market. NVIDIA, the worldwide leader in programmable graphics processor technologies, is at the heart of the excitement, delivering high-performance hardware and software graphics solutions that allow artists to effectively streamline animation and postproduction workflow to meet unwavering deadlines.
NVIDIA is hosting a gala event November 14, 2006 at the JW Marriott in Mumbai, in support of the Indian film production community, spotlighting industry experts, leading animation studios, schools and technology leaders who will converge to discuss the newest advancements in animation technology. Attendees will also be able to see award-winning animation from prominent Indian studios that are fast becoming major forces in the Bollywood scene and hear from award-winning speakers about the process of creating outstanding visual effects.
NVIDIA Quadro® FX professional graphics and Gelato® final-frame rendering software are at the forefront of the Bollywood initiative, providing the robust graphics processing and 3D rendering tools artists need to significantly streamline the 3D visual effects and animation pipeline. In addition to increasing the technological needs of India’s film, visual effects and animation industries, NVIDIA continues to invest in the educational needs of the creative community, providing training and tutoring for the many up-and-coming schools and aspiring students who want to be involved in the Bollywood legacy.
Emmy award-winning guest speaker, Volker Engel, whose career in visual effects spans more than 15 years, will be the headline speaker at the NVIDIA event, where he will discuss his body of work and involvement in visual effects production and technology for the emerging Indian market. Engel’s impressive visual effects career spans both television and film, including an Emmy award for the TV mini series “The Triangle, and blockbuster movies “Independence Day,” and “Godzilla.”
“We are extremely excited about the growing Indian film production community and believe this event is the beginning of an exciting presence in the growing Bollywood community,” said Laura Dohrmann, WW Marketing Manager for Digital Film at NVIDIA. “By providing training and support for our premiere NVIDIA Gelato rendering software, we are establishing firm roots within the Indian animation community and we plan to continue this support in many ways by working with ASIFA, ABAI and TASI, to speed development and progress within the digital animation and film communities in India.
Most recently, NVIDIA was a gold sponsor of the International Animation Day, and plans are underway to fuel learning within the digital content community with the upcoming launch of a monthly lecture series designed to bring working film production professionals from the US, UK and Europe to cities in India to lecture on specific topics such as rendering, rigging, modeling, animation, lighting and postproduction processes.
The NVIDIA event begins at 7:30 pm and ends at 11:00 pm on November 14, 2006. To register, visit http://www.nvidia.in/object/nv_reg.html
