13 February 2007, London: T-Mobile today announces that it will more than halve its data roaming charges for new and existing registered business customers using the T-Mobile network. The move is part of T-Mobile's ongoing drive to ensure that business users are able to access email, the web and other critical information on the move at a simple and easy to understand price.
The price for data roaming will be reduced from £7.50/MB to just £3/MB when roaming in Austria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, the UK and the USA. These countries represent the extensive T-Mobile footprint in Europe and beyond. The new pricing will come into effect from 16th February 2007, and applies to data both sent and received.
The new offer will enable SMEs and corporate customers to keep in touch with the office and colleagues whilst working abroad in these countries at significantly reduced costs. This is in addition to the low-cost wi-fi access that T-Mobile already provides to customers through its HotSpot service in over 30,000 locations world-wide in 22 countries.

This announcement will ensure that our business customers can benefit from improved communications and increased business efficiency through the freedom to use mobile data services, in key business locations, at a significantly reduced cost."
The announcement marks T-Mobile's first step in reducing data roaming costs. Business customers form the majority of T-Mobile's data customers and so the Operator has focussed on reducing costs for this segment of the market in the first instance. T-Mobile is also currently working on a similar initiative to reduce data roaming rates for consumers, and expects to make an announcement in time for the summer holidays.
