Very nice! My brother was folding on a 5000+ and an 8800 GT and it was cranking out 3-4,000 points a day if I recall... That was until his house got struck by lighting.

Just got my check for all the overtime I worked 2 weekends ago. It's taking everything in me not to order that machine and pick up a nice card to throw down an extra 4-5k per day with the next war coming up.

Well, during the last war, I bought parts to build an entire machine, as well as a video card for another machine. I think for this War, I'm going to have to go the route of The Beatles.

Well Small change in plans. I came across a e8400 and a ecs mobo for 159 at frys today. The board isn't the greatest but it will work for the time being (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813135064). Should have it up and running this weekend :)

nice! Doesn't take much processor/mobo to do GPU folding. You have a video card to go that route, or sticking with SMP on this one?

oh yeah... forgot about that. I've been totally out of it this week. Trying to get all my systems reconfigured and NOTHING has worked out right except for the gamer. It went together perfectly, installed fine, and was generally easy to work with. Good, considering I have a LAN this weekend. I was trying to get another machine going for a buddy and it's kicking me in the head with every step.

I'd say the E84 and the ECS will rock out. Pretty sure wickedld9 was getting 4700-5000ppd with his 9600s.

just got it running with the gpu client. Est. ppd is about 4000. Can I run smp and the gpu on a dual core. I was running that combo on my quad core and the 9800. Gonna run this setup for a few day to see what it will do. I need to pick up a better cooler for the cpu it's a stock one at the moment.

The new gpu2 client needs one core by itself. You can try it, but I don't think you will have good results. I would just run the gpu2 client only.

see if you can find EVGAs Precision. It's a GPU overclocking tool. Use it to crank the core and shaders up a bit and you should be able to bump that ppd up a bit. Just increase in small steps (I usually use 5mhz jumps), and test. I can't remember what the 9600 clocks are, but I should be able to mess with my buddies machine tomorrow night (need to get it tweaked a little for the LAN) and I'll try to see what I can get his 9600GT to do.
