Re: New Stats Page
I like this page better too, though my PPD on extremeoverclocking is different than my PPD on xCPU. I wonder if they just update at different times.

Re: New Stats Page
Hey, I am from XCPUs and I built the stats. A friend of mine was like "hey, these guys are using your stats... check it out" so I figured "what the heck... I'll register and answer some questions".
We try to tune our updates so that we get the updates as soon as Stanford releases them (every 3 hours currently) so we are as up-to-date as any 3rd party stats site.
Anyway, stay tuned because I have some killer stuff planned (such as the ability to create preferences on what you want to see... so you want to see 20 overtake users instead of 5? No problem... set preference and site will "remember" it when you come back). I've also gotten a lot of grief for not having weekly/monthly production history tables (e.g. a table that says in Dec you produced x points for last 6 months) so I'll be adding that in at some point in time as well.
If you guys have anything you want to see let me know!
Cheers,
-Dean

Yep... PPD Average anomalies are due to the fact that I calculate based on different ranges for PPD average. I calculate based on 8 days (just to give a little extra history there to try to get a more accurate PPD average because PPD average is what I use to calculate things like Overtake) and most other sites calculate on 7 I think. Also, the points for a given date are sometimes slightly different due to timezones, time when each stats site crunches files from Stanford, etc.vicaphit wrote:I like this page better too, though my PPD on extremeoverclocking is different than my PPD on xCPU. That's actually due to the fact that most (or all) stats pages remove Default and Google from rankings, so you're probably 86 on most stats sites, right? I left all teams in one "bucket" initially and wanted to get user feedback on it... it seems like people agree that Default should be "removed" from the regular rankings, but I think Google is going to stay because I don't see how they are any different than any other company with a folding team (and their PPD isn't exactly incredibly high so it's not like they are a giant that steamrollers the little guys).skierkid450 wrote:they must not update very much, it says we're in 88th place still!

Yeah... keep 'em coming and I'll keep on knocking them out of the park using my patented "different timezones" and "don't worry... I'm already working on that!" dual-prong attack approachdicecca112 wrote:Thanks for signing up here Dean and answering some questions

Re: New Stats Page
Most stat sites remove google as the bulk of their points are(/were?) via the google toolbar (and i think it's just an old version at that as it's been removed in newer ones). The problem being that the folding was activated by default so the user didn't really know anything about it hence google grabbed a massive load of people to fold.

Re: New Stats Page
I didn't know about that toolbar thing. That would really piss me off if they folded on my PC without specifically telling me that they were doing it (though I HATE the Google toolbar in general).DMB2000uk wrote:Most stat sites remove google as the bulk of their points are(/were?) via the google toolbar (and i think it's just an old version at that as it's been removed in newer ones). Anyway, I figured I'd leave Google on the "regular" team list so people could crush Google and feel good about their teams (since their PPD is really NOT that high). But, like I said, I didn't know that they basically got a bunch of users to fold for them without them knowing about it (kind of against the spirit of folding, really!). So, do you guys have a strong preference either way (e.g. remove Google or keep 'em in there)?
Thanks,

it must be like the fact that ATI drivers come with F@H now, i disabled it in the installer, so i dont know what team it's for and settings...

Re: New Stats Page
FYI: This was troubling to me, so I asked a friend about it that uses a lot of ATi cards. He said he's tried checking that option to see what it does, and it only puts a link to the FAH installer on your desktop or something (For the ATi client). So, it's not as evil as I had feared when I first read your post.skierkid450 wrote:it must be like the fact that ATI drivers come with F@H now, i disabled it in the installer, so i dont know what team it's for and settings...

Re: New Stats Page
FYI:I just deployed an update to the FAH stats. Here's what I did:
-- Changed chart image compression to PNG for better compression and better picture quality. The downside to this is: in IE it uses PNG color-correction, which means that the background is the wrong color. To get around this, I made a border around the charts. Check it out here: http://www.xcpus.com/Folding/FoldingTea ... 296&page=1
-- Changed width on charts. They were getting cramped with all that data I have to display, so I made the charts all wider (besides the pie chart, which is already wide enough).
So, what do you think?
Thanks,
-Dean

Re: New Stats Page
Just deployed another update where I'm showing the last update time and estimate on completion of the next update at the top of the FAH stats pages. Let me know what you think!
