TurboTax & F@H GPU

Post by camaroguy1998 »

Is anyone using TurboTax & GPU Folding?

I loaded TurboTax last week, when I did GPU folding was not running. Since then I tried to do my taxes 3 times and each time TurboTax would either lockup and I'd have to reboot and the last time I got a BSOD with an Nvidia driver error.

When I shut F@H GPU down TurboTax runs fine! Is anyone else having this problem or if you did is there another driver that will work with both? I am currently using 178.13 so I can run GPU folding and a video player. The 18x.xx series dont play well with GPU folding and Video playback.

I have the same problem with Excel. If I don't shut down Folding before I launch Excel, the entire world screeches to a halt and usually blue screens my machine.

Ok my bad on a little misrepresentation.
It's not me thats doing the taxes, it's my wife!
She has a problem with following MY directions! I'm betting I'm not alone with that issue! ](*,)
Yesterday was the 3rd time she's called me at work calling my computer a POS, because she can't remember to pause GPU folding! By the time she reboots my comp she gets frustrated and blows off doing the taxes.

I wish my taxes would take just an hour! With my wife being care giver for her parents it makes things alot more involved and complicated. Its probably closer to a 3-4hr process, that she works on here and there in her spare time. (or tries to)

I was hoping there may be a different set of drivers that would allow the 2 to play better together.
I know thats asking alot but had to ask!

I can use turbo tax, excel, everything with f@h gpu on this Vista 32 system. I dont know if the drivers are the same for xp or not but it looks like the last ones I have installed are 177.83.

Mike

Oh and I have the gpu overclocked with rivatuner also - in case that matters.
Remember, I am opinionated and nothing I say or do reflects on anyone or anything else but me :finga:

Yes I am running XP Pro 32bit and I am using eVGA's Precision to OC the GPU.
I will try the 177.83 drivers, if I remember correctly there wasnt that much of a performance difference between the 2 drivers.
