graphics card usage?

Post by dgood »

So does folding not take advantage of the gpu? or at least not mine in the case of the x800? only on the newest ones? because my gfx is at idle temp while my cpu is plugging away on it? is there something I have to enable to make it use my graphics?

right only the x1 series can take advantage. I beleive its just the x1650s, x1800s, and x1900s right now.

lame my x800 is better than an x1650 lol well in gaming, i'll get the othercomputer to try it out I think then on the x1600xt though it wouldn't do it that much. do I need the beta version to do it? Though you didn't list it. If not I'll get it on there with the regular version at least.

So how fast do GPUs fold compared to a CPU?

they say up to 50% faster. But its different architecture so its mainly compared in PPD.

the fastest folder GPU wise is the X1950xtx, which can do at bare minimum 600PPD (All workunits are 330Points)

Frankly if you have a C2D your better off doing SMP (PPD can be updates of 2K, average is more like 800+)
