It looks as though they have lost 986 people (either through Stanford or owners realize something was running on their computer) but 4000+ have recently joined.
No comment about the pirating.....

Check EOC today and it seems that this team will pass us in about 11 months. However, at the rate it's going, I'll say a month is all it takes unless the team gets disbanded soon. I did find 3 what seem to be legit folders, and those are the ones in the top 3.

I just checked our team stats and it looks like they will pass us up in about six months.

Baiting.

Teams evidently get free stuff once they reach the top 100 for a decent duration.... or at least that might be what these guys or guy is thinking. At any rate the person would be hard to track down. However if they get an e-mail saying that their team has broke the top 100 and they need an address to send some freebie stuff to well the tard might just take the bait. Once taken boom their team is disbanded and the perp cuffed however I'm not sure that they will be able to message those people that have "zombified" folding clients on their systems. Should the price of stupidity and piracy be the "donation" of their systems power to the folding for a good cause?

Yes, they should be reported, but I wonder how many users are legit.

Hey, we are all folding for the same cause. Maybe Stanford will decide to just take away some of their points or something.

Hi everyon i see this forum after i found crack for game (i buy it but dun wan use cd), and want to tell u that he put "optional" and explain...

"
5. (Optional, installs Folding@home which utilizes spare CPU cycles to conduct scientific research***)
NOTE: Please don't do this more than once (If mentioned in other cracks)

a. Run FAH.exe.
b. Enter the following:
Username: Any username you like
Team number: 149135
Launch Automatically... Yes
c. Then, close the window.

***About Folding@home: See folding.stanford.edu for more information.
The goal of Folding@home is to study protein misfolding. Proteins need to fold properly before they can accomplish their intended function. Unfortunately, protein misfolding is the underlying cause of diseases like Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, and Parkinson's. Very little is known about how proteins fold. The study of protein folding is among the most challenging yet most important fields in biology. Understanding how proteins fold can help researchers create vaccines and cures for some of the most horrible diseases afflicting people today.
When you run Folding@home on your computer, it will use part of the computer's CPU power, disk space, and network bandwidth. You can control how much of your resources are used by Folding@home, and when it uses them. The work done by your computer contributes to the goals of Folding@home, as described on its web site. The application programs may change from time to time."

Anyway *kappage sorry write wrong* ur friend sure never buy the game, coz game Far Cry 2 don't need to use CD if you bought game and have serial. So your friend should burn :snakeman:

Sorry my english bad, i try to say better.

I found a crack floating around the internet and it had FAH.exe inside along with this instruction:

So I think he got put optional somewhere and explain, but i think alot of stupid people still go install (like how they install google toolbar). So dunno if it is allowed cause he put words there to let user know what they installing.

My previous post i say wrong, FC2 need DVD to play

Ahh now I understand. Thanks for clearing that up. But FarCry its not the fact that he made it optional, its the fact he did it at all. Its against the F@H URL. You cannot do that. And the team's points should be wiped because of it.

Just a guess. I wouldn't be surprised if it is something along those lines though. Its easier to catch a criminal if they walk in with a sign on their forehead saying bust my dumb ass.

bah I was wrong the team is still up and climbing fast.

Regardless of who's doing the work, and even if it violates the Stanford EULA, I'm glad that people that are doing the optional install. I really don't think there is a lot that can be done other than to wipe out that team and prevent any new members from joining that team number.
Just remember it's less about the points and more about the work! If you can't tell, I'm in a "glass is half full" kinda mood. Besides, it gives us something to push for to try and stay ahead of!!! :axe:

We are going to have to recruit a hell of a lot of people to keep afloat of the 600k ppd they are outputting >_>
(And it hasn't settled yet so looks to still be climbing)

Hmmm so I'm guessing Stanford isnt stopping the team then if the OPTIONAL text is still there? :\

And like Bwall said, its only our competitive side that cares. In a way its better even if it is corny to have to cheat at F@H like I consider that "optional install"
