We can start it on the 15th... so make sure your systems are up and running before that date so the workunits are in full production by the time the race starts.
post which team you will be folding for and how many systems you will have running.
Like I said in another post, if we can't balance it, we do this. We take the difference in PPD between the teams and subtract that amount times the length of the contest from the final totals
Ex.
Say the teams are setup as above, with AMD ahead by 18ppd, and the contest runs for a month. The final points totals, say come out to 500,000 to 300,000. (AMD in the lead in this case). 18ppd *31 days is 558. So we subtract 558 form AMD and the final score would be 499,442 to 300,000
Eventually I'll get this into a spreadsheet for everyone, with weekly graphs to see who is in the lead.
Like Apop said, this is could start Saturday April 15th. But for all parties involved I would personally like it to start the following Friday (April 22), seeing us college kids have easter break, well at least I do, and the rig will be down for 5 days. Can't keep it running 24/7 at home, dad gets mad over the electric bill, and I don't wanna disadvantage my team
Since it be damn near impossible to figure out ppd for those running both types, you gotta choose a side. I'm gonna take the stats straight from EOC website.
Apop I know you said you were gonna get some machines online for the race, can you give me an estimate on your PPD? It wouldn't be fair to put you on a team and then have your ppd spike to 400s or so from 96.
Don't get me wrong guys, the more borgs you can get to help your team the better. When we did this over at OCforums, we gained a ton of users and borgs, and it was a damn close race, my team ended up losing by like 200points in the final hours.
Once teams are decided, Smack Talking is encouraged, well in the bounds of the forum rules over course
i only have one AMD system folding most of mine are dual xeons, so i guess im intel if its an AMD vs Intel... but i think i would sit that one out to make things fair.
"Don't open that! It's an alien planet! Is there air? You don't know!"
I have a 2.6GHz, 2.8GHz, and 3.0GHz Intel systems folding.... but the 2.8GHz is my work PC and is only folding outside of business hours or days I take off.
is this gonna go for a length of time or just forever?
comp specs- too lazy to make a cool looking sig... MB:GIGABYTE GA-MA790XT-UD4P, AMD Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition 2.8Ghz, CORSAIR TW3X4G1333C9DHX 4GB PC3-10666, ASUS Radeon HD 4870 512MB, SB audigy gamer, WESTERN DIGITAL Caviar Black 500GB, antec P180 case (extra 120mm fan and 80mm fan), Corsair HX Series 620W: ASSEMBLED June 2009
guys, I may have to not hold the reigns for this project for a couple days. Dad's in the hospital, nothing serious, just I rather focus on that right now. I'll be back in a couple days, if Apop wants to spearhead this I got no grips, just put me on the Intel team, and I'll be all set
