I looked at my processes in windows and it showed that folding was only ttaking 50% of the cpu while not really doing anything. is that normal? or can i boost that up some?

50% is normal if your running a Hyper Threading, dual core, or dual cpu system and have only installed one instance of FAH, to get two you need to make more than one folder

CPU0
CPU1

or

CPU0
CPU1
CPU2
CPU3

if you have a dual cpu with HT or DC

Just a littel update so people can see how they are doing :)

Ken has since 12.4.05 put up 3630 points
Bubba has since 12.4.05 put up 4209 points
BigBlockMat has since 12.4.05 put up 2419 points
Blake has since 12.4.05 put up 2343 points
JRE has put up 1,946 points
Sbohdan has put up 1,517 points
KnightRid has since 12.16.05 put up 743 points
DMB has since 12.17.05 put up 445 points

If i missed you make sure i know, because that means it was not quite clear if your compeating or when you started :) But looking over the results so far im really impressed by the effort to fold that our members have been putting into this. So far awsome job people!

yep create a new folder and run the setup, just make sure you set the machine number to something different than the other installation on the same computer

IE

machineid=1
machineid=2

I'm getting less points using 2 instances with my X2 than running 1 instance :(
I've being getting very low points from stanford.....I have a 3.6GHz running 24/7 along with my X2 rig...

I used to get more points with my 3.6 & 3.4 p4 setup....:(
I'm thinking of setting up my old P4 Celery, all I need is a HSF (It can run on the bench - I can use a linux boot cd to do some folding)
I have a 600 pointer coming in today ;)

I'm going to see if allocating more ram for folding allows for more 600pts WU's!

11 days to go...........:P

Well there are some things i have noticed, fist off it took about a week of folding on my X2 until i got any decent WU's. Second, if you really care about points on your P4 system then there are only two ways to set it up first if you want HT on then you should set one instance to big packets, and set the second to regular, because the QMD core that folds on most P4's uses ALOT of memory bandwith, like 200,000m. Or if you dont require HT turn it off and just run one instance with big packets, this will actualy give you better points but you loose some of the advantages that HT offers for desktop use :( Hope that helps.

think I'm going to get a personal best for this month, 4903 at the momnet, but I'm WAY short of the 10k mark, dont think I can get 5k in 11 days. Haveing fun trying :)

now after the holidays I'm going to get a new heatsink (xp90c for sure) and going to try again and keep try'n until I can hit 10k a month.

thats because pentiums are better for folding than AMD. faster bus and higher Mhz. also nate said that it's better to turn off HT if you just using the rig for folding (no multitasking done.) I've got these from other threads :ANAL:
Main rig: NZXT Phantom modded case with Danger Den WC, Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite, Ryzen 5800X @ stock, 32GB Patriot Viper DDR4 3200Mhz 16-18-18-36-1T, AMD RX 5700XT + AlphaCool WC, ACER Nitro XV2 27", SP 1TB nvme PCiE GEN3, Samsung 2TB; Cooler Master MW Gold 650W, Win10 Pro 64

memory has NOTHING to do with folding.....It's all about the cpu!

Infinite, use a divider!!!!

I have read numerous posts on the FAH forums....I have HT disabled on the P4 rig as it only folds, does NOTHING else ;)

I think my X2 rig won't do 600 pointers as running 2 instances......?
I set it to use 1 instance last night, checked this morning, I'm now 1/2 way into a 600 pointer ;) (I used to get them when only running the X2, it had my average near 300 then, now with 2 (3) rigs incl. the X2, I can just about hit 300 :? )

I have the -avmethods switch used aswell, so SSE2 should be working for me :)

I'm thinking of setting up a few rigs here in work, they will be G4 MACs
I need to know howto hide it from running, If I can get both up & running B4 COB tomorrow, they can be folding 24/7 over the Holidays ! (it will only be a for the hols, but every little helps) --> anyone know howto/if you can open a terminal screen on osx (needs to be like linux ie. ctrl+alt F2 -> this way it can run safley with no chance of anyone closing it...
+ I'm building a new rig for a friend this week, I'll try get him to fold....(3500+) + there's a guy here in work, he's big into Pimrig forums, I'm slowly trying to convert him ;)

Well the reason i have not used a divider yet is because i have not had time to find what settings are stable for my BH-5 with the X2.... maybe this weekend i will have time.

I'm only getting the expert board, because I'm build a new pc for a friend, he will be getting my SLI-DR....I'll sell it to him for €100!
he gets a good deal (new board) and I get an expert board for ~€100

It's not too much, I've some "spare" money since I got promoted in work a while back, and they have only just back dated the $$$ now ;)
and I will be able to H2O cool the chipset easilly, I hate the noise from the chipset fan

Since I switched to using 1 core, set memory to be used as 128Mb...I now have completed a 600pt. WU and another on the way :)

I suspect running 2 instances on a X2 decreases performance!

I'm going to check my stats over the next 2-3 days to see.........
