Dunno if that is still some of the problem or not.

I'm still here. Things have been so busy for the last couple weeks that I haven't had a chance to reinstall windows on my E6600 machine.

Also, my internet connection has been having massive disconnect issues that my ISP can't seem to resolve, so even if I can get a WU complete, I can't get it uploaded... so instead of starting units I can't complete or turn in on time, I've dropped off the map for a while.

I "hope" to have time to get Windows reinstalled one night this week, as well as getting the internet problem fixed by Friday as well. I have picked up another low end computer that I'll be adding to mix, once I can get a new hard drive for it. So, hopefully, by next Wednesday (out of town all weekend), I can have 2 machines running SMP and 2 machines running graphical and get my 3000ppd cranking again. Sorry for the let down guys.

Well, I'm back, though in a limited capacity ATM. Got the Athlon folding graphical and the E6300 folding SMP since Sunday. Gonna try to get Windows reinstalled on the E6600 machine tomorrow cranking SMP and the hard drive in my new beater folding graphical tomorrow as well. All depends on my sleep schedule. Driving 1300 miles in 40 hours has kinda wiped me out.

yeah, left from Table Rock Lake (basically Arkansas) at 8:30am, got in my hotel room at 7:45pm on Monday. Tuesday, had the meeting at 12:30, lasted till 3:45. Left Minneapolis at 4pm, got home at 1:30am Wednesday... slept most of the day away.

Going to start the reinstall tonight, as I finish up a website for a client and some computer repair for another client. Hope I slept enough on Wednesday, 'cause it's looking like a no sleep night tonight.

what are you running it on? smp on windows? or on linux?
did you make sure to get .net framework 2.0 or better 3.0 for windows if windows is the case?
never give up!
Hell my comp crashed just now and now I am trying to get smp to actually go like it was before.

I'm using WinSMP because of it's "ease of use" ahahaha.

Anyway... for gaming, I would always shut down vmware and have to restart when I was done gaming. PITA. WinSMP will run with no ill effects on game performance so I don't have to shut it down every time I want to use the computer for what it was built for.

I'm working on reinstalling .NET now and trying to get it up and running. 8th place daily on the team sucks. I want back in the top 4-5.

After much trial, tribulation, and smashing my head on the desk... I got working.

I uninstalled/reinstalled .NET, Java (depend showed a problem with msjava.dll), and the SMP client (about 200x). I had also been installing from the file I originally downloaded (about 3 months ago) that I had been moving around the network to whatever machine needed it at the time... so I don't know if that was a problem, but I also downloaded/installed the latest version from the Stanford site.

Some combination of all this headache inducing chaos finally got it working again, so I'm heading to bed and letting it do it's thing. 3k ppd, I'll be back soon!.

well the old version of the SMP client you had expired, so that's why that didn't work. It expired July 1st a I think

well, after the reformat, new version of SMP, new drivers all around... my machine worked pretty well for about a week, then started rebooting again.

To begin the process of elimination, I turned everything back stock as a rock, fired up OCCT and at 1m5s in it crashed every time. I went through the normal routine, shutting down processes, etc and it shut down at the same point every time, which lead me to hardware.

I ran Memtest86 and encountered a sea of red (errors)... bad enough to the extent that it would actually lock up Memtest86. Gonna swap out the ram from the server and try it again tonight to make sure it's actually the ram and finish up the process to RMA it.

well, I ran the tests to be sure the ram was bad (swap sticks/slots) and got errors in every combination, so I completed the RMA from corsair, should have that back in a bit.

Tried to pull the ram from the server and see if it would work in this machine, but for some reason, it wouldn't even boot with that RAM (diff speed, timings, and brand). So I went to put the ram back in the server and I guess the power supply has shot craps in it. I saw a spark when I plugged the cable back in, like a discharge of some type. Threw the cable away and tried with a new one and it won't boot. At one point, it booted on it's own, without me touching it.

So that's 2 machines down. I hope the ram RMA will take care of the gamer/folder, but I'm out of luck on the other machine for a few weeks until I can afford a new power supply (maybe I'll luck out and win the giveaway this month). But anyway, I'm down to only the Athlon xp2200 machine folding it's 60-90ppd. :(

Ice, you seem to be having a run of bad luck there or something.....

course i'm not one that should be talking, came back and 2 of my 6600's are bricks (no time to deconstruct, etc) and a third that i left folding but set as a spare for management was claimed. Another system has 4 WU's Q'd and will not upload....

thats my welcome back i guess

Ok... I'm back in the game about 60%.

Got the following running;

daily driver, Athlon 1.8, 1gb ram. running graphical, but I'll probably switch to text at next break (responsible for all 963 pts in the last month)
freebie dell, P4 1.8, 768mb ram (more on the way). running text only. first project is a 186 pointer (project 3040)
Behemoth... from the sig, but only 1GB of 667 ram at the moment. sent 2gb of 800 ram off today for RMA. I'll get the overclock ramped back up and should be able to drop 1760 every 20 hours.

Once the 2gb of 800 ram comes back, it goes back in the behemoth and I'll get Frankenbeast lined out with the new PCPower&Cooling Silencer 750 Quad and the 1gb of 667 ram (about 28 hrs for a 1760 WU) ... hopefully upgrading to 2gb there within the next month or so.

Hopefully, this setup will get me at/about/slightly above 3k ppd with everything running solid. Still facing my internet problems, but they aren't as bad as they had been. I'll just have to keep a closer eye on WU's when they are close to finishing.

those files aren't there anymore.

just restarted it, and it gave me "deleting current work unit & continuing". It seems to be work now... or at least hasn't failed yet. we shall see.
