What's going on?

Post by Amy »

I was just running through all the processors we have running, and I see that a lot of people have been running 0 processors the last 7 days! What's going on? Let's get those things up and running!

I'm done folding currently. My core is getting way too hot and everytime I run F@H, something goes wrong with my computer.

lol... Try running it at 65-70% of your core. Thats what I did on my buddies AMD Athlon XP rig that he has folding. 100% was just too much for it 24-7.

feel like explaining what goes wrong. List some error codes, tell us what version of the program your using, operating system, overclock... stuff that might help us tell you whats wrong.

my first guess with no info though is that your oc is generating errors, check with prime95 and see if you get rounding errors, if so that means you need to scale back your overclock so your not getting errors.

More locking up my system than anything. Doesn't matter what scale the CPU usage is set at, if the program is open, it locks me up. I've also noticed, not sure if it's a coincidence or what, but everytime I open it, it kills the network access on my computer. A simple restart fixes that, but it's frustrating doing it all the time.

I'm using 5.02 yet.

I'll check out this Prime95 program tomorrow. I'm highly doubting that 100MHz over stock is going to cause errors. I've been overclocking this processor since May 2003 with no troubles. Before the Dual Channel DDR came along, I was doing 300MHz over, but Apop and I came to the conclusion that Dual Channel doesn't like overclocking much (constant blue screens w/ hardware failure imminent) so I scaled it down to only 100MHz over.

I can also try to update the software one of these days.

Yeah, they have the beta 5.03....you might want to try that and see if it fixes anything.

guys, i've been busy and am currently down to one system...but i need to say something. While folding is awesome, some people don't have the time, or don't want a system running full time, or even don't want to deal with little issues (like working on something for 3 days and it never downloading)....lets not be pushy about this, if people want to fold, great, if not, thats fine too. I personally don't want peiople to feel obligated to do something to be a member here. I also don't want people to leave because they are being hounded about something. The way you guys are sounding lately, i'm afraid you're going to have people wearing purple sweats and drinking "kool-aid".

hehe, i just leave everything the way it is, if something does not upload or donwload i dont stress it, if i dont get a wu i dont stress it. But as for leaving my computer running 24/7 that i have no problme with its not like it costs me much.

I agree it doesn't cost much, but things do add up....$10 here, $15 there. My whole point is this isn't a "Folding at Home Club", this is a site for people to come and share their opinions and ideas, as well as get help and learn about computer technology. i just think some people are getting a little overzealous as far as Folding goes, and i would rather have people not fold than feel obligated or worse yet go to another site because they feel we are being pushy about somethingf...like I said, just my opinion.
