I'm not sure that the SMP has non deadlined work units yet.

You should be able to just re install and select it in the setup process. I thought i saw it in the new beta in the advanced options.

there is no such thing as deadline less work units. Either you make them or you don't. If you can't switch to the normal client. Deadlines on Smp are 2-3 days tops. Normal is more like 2 weeks or so. You need at least 10hours per day folding time to meet the deadlines of SMP

alrighty then, i guess i might just get an instance of the normal folding setup on here, and run it as a service whenever i'm on. looks like i'll be up and funning 24/7 on SMP within a month though!

SMP deadlines are short. Most are 3-4 days due to the assumed high speed of the client. This doesn't work very well for me as I am constantly unplugging my laptop to go to class and thus no folding. However, my Opteron 170 at stock can get the WUs done before the deadlines... I had a 5280 point week September 30, 2007. SMP is really the way to go if you can make it work.

when my machine is running (and I have updated software, doh!), I drop an SMP unit every 20 hours. Hopefully, in the next week I can get the 'beast back up and running and overclocked a bit so I can get 1760 from it every 24 hours or so.

Unfortunately, on my slow machines, but text only, I've hit some REALLY tough units that are taking 5-6 days to complete instead of the 2.5-3 day units I was getting before on them.
